Interesting analysis Suz! It certainly has given me food for thought.
Firstly just to say I cannot wait for the end of summer and cooler weather. Summer on the Black Sea this year has been the longest and hottest ever.
Now back to 2024 purchases. I actually purchased a lot for me (19). Most were 2nd hand and I did manage to get 2 out for every 1 in. The brakes are on now for the rest of the year. I am not going to rate all the items I added as quite a few have not been worn. Not because they were belly-flops but because I bought them a bit tight as I had envisaged losing my middle-fluff by summer but that did not happen. Not too stressed about this as I know they will be worn in time.
So what did I buy and wear and what is their rating?
A black shirt dress (brand new) - B. I love everything about it (the cut, the fit), however all though it is 100% cotton is too warm for summer. Fab for Late Spring and Early Autumn though.
A black button down shirt with a mandarin collar (thrifted Zara) - A+.
I love it. The fit, the cut. A 100% cotton, a thick weave, also too hot for high summer but much better quality than the dress mentioned above, Perfect for the rest of the year,
A black button down collared shirt tunic length (thrifted Primark) -A,
I love it! Such cool cotton, Cooler than wearing sleeveless in fact. Perfect for high summer. Brought home by my DH for me, it was mistakenly in the Men's Section, as was the Zara shirt mentioned above (but I found that one).
Camel chunky platform sandals (thrifted New with Tags). - A+.
Totally my style, look edgy, bookend my faded copper hair, as light as a feather and comfortable (can walk miles in them).
Black Cocoon Dress (thrifted Scandi brand) - A+.
100% cotton jersey, great shape, deep pockets, midi length. Love it. Will look fab too with a white or blue denim jacket when it cools down.
Black Capri Jeans (thrifted Escada Sport) - A. I nearly did not take these. I was at the cashier and went back to the rack where I left them. So glad I did. I was not sure about the length. But now I am sold. Excellent fit and quality, feel like they were made for me. PS: They have leather trim on the hems, such a cool detail.
Yellow floral peplum Tee (thrifted Terranova) - B. Fun wild card. A very different colour for me, a mango yellow - I like it with my new copper hair.
The ones that were not such winners are:
Fuchsia Anorak (thrifted) - D. Very heavy and not that warm as you would expect it to be. I will keep it for Autumn but honestly I would not buy it now. Fortunately it was only 2.50 Euros.
Navy parachute pants (thrifted) - C-. In theory these should be perfect for my style, the light weight material, etc, etc. But they don't hold in my flabby tummy. Very unflattering with a shorter top which is what is needed. Maybe when I lose the tummy fluff they will be better but then they will probably be too big as they are the correct size now.
Black Knit with white stripe (thrifted) - B-. I like it but it is not such a great acrylic. I find some acrylics are better than others. This one needs frequent washing, IYKWIM ;).
Maroon Bucket Bag (thrifted) - C. Too big - I cannot find anything in it! Would not buy it now.
Wow that was long Suz if you are still reading. Thanks for getting me to analyze my purchases. I think I did okay. I am definitely honing my style and making better choices thanks to YLF!
