The Royal New Zealand Ballet does a Christmas season every year. This year it was Liam Scarlett’s “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” which he choreographed for them in 2015 for the first time. It was awesome!
Little Miss M is not quite 3.5 years old, we were apprehensive about how she would be but her mother was taken to her first ballet by me at 3.5 and in my memory was perfect and loved it (after 30 years my memory may have faded a little) and also Miss M has loved the several dance classes I have taken her to. Well she was not quite perfect but almost, quite a few questions assisted by sitting on Mummy’s or Auntie’s knee and being told in whispers. Near the end of Act 1 we got an “It’s too long”, and near the end of Act 2 “I want to go now” a few times. Mummy took her out and only missed the last pas de deux between Oberon and Titania, plus the reprise. Overall a success but I look forward to her being a year older next time!
Pics 1/2 my outfit. Fuchsia sandals yay, and my mother’s (fake) “opal” necklace.
“But Nana, why not your ballet flats?”

Thanks for looking and listening to my boasting!
