Reading these threads is a lot of fun. Mocihi, you need a parrot, lol. I dont see my style as cohesive enough for a descriptor. Perhaps I could work toward that this year.

I don't have a good compact descriptor. I think on my birthday thread Angie still called me Queen Trendy.

Joy, I am not Angie. But I feel SURE that "Lady" must figure in your style descriptor somewhere.

Krish...soft gamine (as per Kibbe) makes sense. And Manidipa's onto something. Maybe you are a Voluptuous Pixie Page? Though I do see some similarites between you and Jamie, too, so I wouldn't entirely rule out the Prince category. It could be you are more of a Romantic Urban Prince.

JulieJohn: You are Colorful Court Jester -- whose wit and whimsy tell deep truths and keep us all on the up-and-up!!

LOVE Rocker Warrior Queen for Janet. That sounds so apt!!

Shannon...I am thinking. You may be a Prince yourself, you know...but perhaps with a modifying adjective in addition to Urban.

Janet, Rocker is perfect for you - what about your artist side, or does that fit into Urban?

Just a few more thoughts before I run:

- Joy, you are easy. Elegant Eclectic!

- Anna you are also our reigning Queen Wackdoodle, but we need a better descriptor for your style. Something about wearing off-kilter looks is a good starting point.

- Amy, you are Whimsical and quite Retro. Perhaps start there.

- Shannon, you are almost an Urban Prince - how do you feel about that?

- Manidipa, I think of Folksy when I think of your style.

- Krish, I do not see Warrior, but I LOVE the word Doll! I see Arty Gamine Doll. I also love Romantic Prince. Good one Suz!

- Julie John, Suz nailed your Colourful Court Jester style

So glad you are sorted Janet, Isis, Astrid and Merwoman.

Right. I am off for the day. Back later.

Anna is a Vanguard, I think.

How do I feel about that? Down right honoured

May I ask what about my style makes it "almost"? and what do I need to do to become a full fledged Prince?

Angie said I was Quirky Warrior Waif!

As in: I won't be spending all my time roaming the streets against the zombie hoard and stealing gas from abandoned cars. I will don my apron and be, like, weaving soda can tabs for a lot of the day... or interminable night, as it may be. Hehe.

...Just so y'all know ;>

Shannon, I would say there is a feminine vibe (dresses, skirts) which makes you almost Princely, but still Princessy I think amping up the androgeny would make you more Princely. Your trouser questing has shown you are a Prince-In-Training.

Oh this is such fun and so completely helpful, too! I haven't posted photos yet, but I wanted to chime in as one of my goals in this new year is to nail down the "nuance" and subtleties of what exactly makes something feel like "me" and having all of you work out the nuances of your styles and each others' is helping even me to evaluate what I know of your styles, combine that with your nuanced descriptions, and apply what I know to my own mental landscape. Thanks all!! Please keep it up

Rachy, maybe before you started your soda armor creation, you came from the Dickensian orphanage, like Mochi and Suz. I think a smudge of soot on your little cheeks would be a nice accessory!

Anna, I like Ceit's "Vanguard" for you. Or perhaps, "Scout" since you love fashion adventures. "Adventuress" ?

Shannon, you indeed strike me too as an Urban Prince. Bold, chic, adventurous, and dabbling on the menswear side. Urban always has a dash of retro, just look at the retro old buildings in every good city.

Suz, I love "colorful court-jester" ! I am honored by your description, and I think perhaps a little bashful about how much you nailed me! How did you know I love truth so much? You are a good student of human nature, wow.

Angie I'm glad you see me that way too.

With a little luck I can be the fool, like in Tarot. As I recall, though he may be on the road to disaster, he is whistling a happy tune!

My lords and ladies of the royal court, my wit may have a truthy edge, but it is my honor to entertain and amuse you!

Oh! I want in! I wonder if it's too early in my style journey to have a descriptor yet? I've been trying to think of one for myself for months, with no success.

I have a messy pixie (but am considering growing it out), wear a lot of menswear inspired things. I like tailored to slouchy fit most of the time, and solids with textures over patterns usually. I think I aspire to be fairly polished, but not bombshell.

I also have a RATE or UWP shadow style, in that I super admire it, but feel like it's so far out of my concept of "me", that not only do I own nothing that would fit in the category, but I fear I'd feel silly in it.

I think you are tending on the Prince spectrum too -- Urban Prince would be a good starting point.

I have a spot of time so I am quickly chiming back in.

Urban Princes are not RATE by any stretch of the imagination. We are 100% Polished - even when we scrunch our sleeves, semi-tuck, faux tuck, sport the oversized look and wear Docs. Fit is extremely important to us. We are strict and no-nonsense with warm mushy hearts.

Amiable, I see your style as RATE so Urban Prince would not be right. You look a little Preppy and Country at the moment. Start there.

Ceit is on the right tack, Shannon. Equal parts Boyish and Ladylike is cricial in order to be an Urban Prince. Your style is more feminine than boyish at the moment, but I see a change. Also amping up the strictness is a point, which means no jewelry. You are so, so, there :). But only if you want to be. No need to become an Urban Prince if you would rather be something else.

Anna, you are a Trendy Avant-Gard. You LOVE the trends, but you do add your own spunk, so I like where Ceit was going with Vanguard.

Amiable, I also love that preppy, country thing. It's part of the 'prairie', next to bohemian and the more girly side. Maybe you could join me? Although I'm not sure in what category that would be.

Astrid, great that you chimed in! Amiable is very close to your style

I think I'm going to go with Feminine Urban Prince for now Angie - I definitely have a bit more girly style than a pure Urban Prince, at least at this time...

I identify with the UWPs but not sure if I fall in their camp! Definitely not P, maybe some U. But lately I've been feeling a lot of W

Thank you! I was just going to chime in saying that another departure that I have with Urban Prince is that I like to wear jewelry - albeit, one piece at a time, and statement pieces. I definitely need to explore RATE some more.

And astrid, I'm looking up your threads now to learn more about your (our) style!

Shannon, Urban Lady Prince sounds better

Cathy, how about Rocker Warrior?

Can I just say that this thread has given me an IMMENSE amount of pleasure today as I work on very tedious things?

THANK YOU ANGIE (and Inge and Greg!) for creating such a wonderful space where we can have so much fun with fashion.

That's great to hear, Ceit! Thanks for your great input on this thread and good luck with your tedious day. Your comment made my day

*clapping hands*

LOVE IT!!!

Squeeeee! I love love LOVE Bohemian Prairie Girl for Astrid!!!!

And JulieJohn... Yes! I sooooooo need a smudge of soot. I mean, do I or do I not over-use the word "Dickensian" and have a Pinterest board called "Little Match Girl"? I do!

Other little girls liked Little Mermaid. I liked Little Match Girl. She had imagination!

Urban Lady Prince is so perfect for Shannon!

And Rocker Warrior works for me

Thanks Angie -- you definitely have a knack for getting to the essence!

This has been a blast--and it's amazing how playing around with fantasy names can really nail down vague feelings. I just realized that part of my issue with curly hair is that it just looks too soft and feminine for an Urban Warrior Queen. Blow drying my locks gives me an edgier look which works so much better with my wardrobe and personality. I need to find a way to make curly look edgy (maybe get over my fear of "product"?) if I want to feel at home in my curls.

Another thought--the more I think about it, the more I'm convinced that sophistication, with unexpected touches of edge or RATE or rocker, is the the hallmark of how UWP morphs into UWQ. Full on rocker, RATE, and UWP can end up looking like a caricature on an aging woman all too easily; it's doing the look with sophistication, confidence, and a hint of regal that lets us play with the studs, leathers, boots, zippers, and such much longer without looking silly. After all, one look from the queen usually puts nay-sayers in place.

I'll leave you with Tamar the Great of Georgia--an actual warrior queen--who didn't need a skimpy costume to have a host of men at her beck and call.

Gaylene - your use of the word "regal" has captured my attention, as I'm on this side-kick of trying to up the maturity quotient in my look. I think that's the key to wearing otherwise *young* looks. I might also call it back-bone and iron will, lol. Command.

This is so fun! I am envious of everyone who has a title for their style. Can I have one too, please? I'm going to need a little help.

I don't know if I'm urban or warrior anything! Nancy (Mochi) pegged my 2012 looks as "elegant minimalism." I always thought of myself as slightly boho, but maybe those tendencies are fading in favor of a more streamlined, sleek look. The photos don't lie!

What should my title be?

Note to self...stop sleeping! My goodness so much happens here over night! What a fabulous and fun read. I love all these creative descriptors:). I recently posted about how I saw my own style evolving (http://youlookfab.com/welookfa.....n-for-2013) and I concluded I'm Modern Classic combined with varying elements of arty, edgy and trendy. I am not an UWP but certainly admire the styling. In terms of a descriptor, I'm at a loss but open to suggestions:).

Deborah, please start a Modern Classic thread! I would love to see everyone's musings as it is a style I really appreciate.
