PHOTOS ADDED! Successful thrifting and eating my words

I had an incredible run of luck thrifting with my consignment pay-off of $40! It's weird how our two Value Villages are so different in quality, and the more ghetto one actually has better stuff. I will post photos of everything for feedback when my son gets off our real computer, but my haul includes:

- multicolor Sparrow hooded cardi (ANTHRO!) - very 70s
- high-waisted wide-leg faded denim jeans from the Gap
- a tiered cream and khaki striped cotton skirt that reminded me of Audi from Fashion for Nerds
- j crew deep blue wool/cashmere maxi skirt (IN LOVE!)
- kelly green cashmere cardi from Neiman Marcus
and (deep breath) -

a P.B. (can't bring myself to write the P word again) blouse! For $3 I decided I would give it a try. It's black and white polka dots with a lower v-neck. It looks better on than the photos appear, because I can't find the tripod and am taking photos by propping the camera in weird places.

Can I get a little sugar to sprinkle on those words before I eat them?

LeahJane - I have always been a thrifter, and don't think that will change - only my standards. Even for $1, it's not worth it if it's not fab, right?

Yeah, "pussy bow" kind of gives me the creeps too. Same with "panties." Can't we just agree to call them underwear?! I think of the blouses as simply bow blouses--no need for the pussy modifier, IMHO.

Oooh, Jonesy, I hate "panties" too. I feel like men love to say it in a lewd way. For some reason, I also don't like the word "hose" either (maybe because it's usually pantyhose!).

I'm a little surprised at the negative conotation of pussy bow blouses - surely they were named out of a loose connection to illustrated versions of cats with big bows around their necks? I dunno, maybe I'm reading too many vintage children's books to my kids, not to mention Mother Goose rhymes.

Yes, lewdness and the word panties do tend to go hand in hand, at least in my experience. Ick. "Hose" is pretty gross too, I agree.

Ok. I am laughing at all the comments. I thought I was the only one with the hang up about that blouse name. I just can't say it. Sorry, must be my bible belt upbringing. Panties, no prob. Although that word makes my 6 year old son giggle. Of course, any word that involves bodily functions cracks him up, too. Boys!

QM, I will have to try saying that to my 17 year old son. He tends to coordinate his boxers with the shirt he is wearing. Oh the shame.

#1 and 2 are great finds! Digging the hw jeans on you with the patch pockets! Surprisingly, I like the long maxi skirt. It drapes so well--lots of potential! I'm looking forward to seeing how you style this one and the ruffle skirt. Fun pieces!

Rute, thanks for being honest! It's all just cheap stuff that I'm hoping to experirment with, so if it doesn't work, no worries. I'll style a couple of these items and see if you change your mind. The cardi is a nice warm casual weekend option for me - I don't have a lot of heavy sweaters, and sometimes even layered tunics don't keep me warm enough.

Una, this makes my thrifting heart beat fast! It is so much fun and such a high to come back from thrifting with honest to goodness goodies. Thrifting is such a high-low lifestyle, weeks can go by and nothing. But when you hit a score, like this, the rush is so worth all the fruitless trips. Have fun styling and playing around with them!
