SarahD8's recent post " How do you style two-colour prints?" got me thinking . My answer: with another two-colour print. This jersey top has been an absolute workhorse since I bought it almost 5 years ago. Inexpensive, easy-care, and goes with so much of my wardrobe. It owes me nothing, and I will miss it when it's gone. But it absolutely needs another print to "bring it out" and to add interest to the outfit. Despite being an interesting piece with it's asymmetric cut and unique print, it doesn't have enough power to make a look, which is indicative of a lot of two-colour prints. I always, always add in a third colour (an olive satin bomber instead of the black blazer is my other go-to here) or second print, and it makes the top come alive. These skirted leggings are a little big now, and haven't retained their shape very well over the years, but like the top, they owe me nothing and have been a solid workhorse. When going through my closets and packing for our upcoming move (5 weeks and counting!!) , I "found" this great ponte blazer with silver side zip vents that hasn't been worn in years (oops) and loved wearing it to work yesterday. *all black dress code*
Nothing new or trendy here , but I love it just the same.
Skirted leggings - motto (old)
Top - random boutique find (old)
ponte blazer - Anne Klein (old)
scarf - McQ
earrings - Hilary Druxman
boots - Browns Couture - new
lipstick - Bobbi Brown Brown liner, Smashbox Pretty Social Lipstick ( I own three of these and keep one in every bag and work backpack. )
coat - Gap - new Fall 19. Another top buy for me. I wear it dressed up , and dressed down, and with every piece in my closet.
Will winter ever end? I'm ready to start wearing some different clothes soon, thankyouverymuch.
