Can't get over this. You obviously have what I call the "hunger for beauty" and have found a way to reign in the shopping while still reveling in beauty and luxury, and looking amazing. Genius. Love that you are inspired by art. You look like royalty, yet relaxed. And you repurpose things. Taking notes from you.

I love your outfits and how they tie in with Byzantine Jewel. We visited Turkey a couple times to see our son, and saw amazing tilework and jewels that would fit in your theme. Oh, I just looked up Byzantine and Byzantium is what is now Istanbul. How did I not know that?

How CLEVER and inspirational, Brooklyn. It's sooooo fun how your style is inspired by beautiful things around you. I LOVE THAT. And I love "Byzantine Jewel". VERY you, and I'm impressed. WOW

KILLER looks all round. I adore your statement gold jewellery and how that adds glam-glitz-polish to your outfits. I'm loving the flat footwear, and the toffee bag/shoes that pick up the same shades in your hair. Earthy & Moody Summer Chic.

You are sooo focused and have reached Style Zen. Bask in your brilliance and beauty. Rock on, and much love to you and Ms.B. xo

This was great read, very inspirational. I especially like your gold accessories, you are definitely achieving the lux goal with them. And the whole idea is very clever, it is great how your wardrobe speak a story.

Hi Brooklyn --

I always look forward to your WIW and wow, this capsule was definitely a visual feast -- a very natural transition from one of your recent cold-weather themes (Dark Romance, maybe?).

I really love how pared-down the outfits are while still capturing the essence of the highly textured + pattterned + bejeweled inspiration.

And now I'm being really lazy and just "dittoing" the other remarks upthread.

Quick q re the cross-over metallic sandals -- can you share the brand? They kind of look like these Eileen Fisher wedges I keep replacing but better because...shiny.

Brooklyn, fascinating, beautiful, and so educational. Thank you for posting!

What a treat. My first thought , besides how beautiful, is that it would be a difficult theme to do for summer with the rich fabrics, but you make it work so well. How about "Turkish pants". I hD some in the 80's...full pants where the volume was drawn in at the ankle with gathering . Mine were a washable silk. How about slightly cropped tops that show a bit of skin?
This look is so you. I am looking forward to your other two looks for 2019.

Beautiful, sophisticated, and very you.

Late to this and everything has already been said. You look wonderful in these looks - my most favourite is the first but the gold jewellery, simple shapes and opulent looks are all stunning.

Well done - I do find it inspirational.

Wasn't that Peruvian Collection dress one of the first things you picked when you decided on the Byzantine theme? Seems to have become a workhorse. I'm enjoying how you subtley transition your style from one theme to another with your well considered additions.

Thanks so much everyone! I’m going to work my way back through the comments. (Did someone say methodical?)

Runcarla, yes I bought 2 PC dresses in NYC, and one since my return. They were all chosen with this theme in mind. Florals, spots and plaid still dominate the landscape here.

Thanks Sally and the Cat!

Thanks Joy. I have been thinking about pants with that silhouette! I thought I’d wear them with combat boots for the modern touch. I’ve been keeping an eye out. But I’m going to be careful because I have a bad history with finding pants that I love

Isabel, thanks for the kind words.

Vix, thanks. Yes, definitely a natural transition from dark romance. I do think the look I am after is romantic in a streamlined way. The sandals are from Australian store Midas. I bought them last year. I checked but they don’t seem to be in stock anymore. They are very like the EF wedges (I have them too!) but they are flat and shinier.

Thanks Anchie!

Thanks Angie! You are way too kind. If you saw my summer casual uniform (I may post it one day) of skort + tee + sandals you would know I haven’t reached a fashion zen. But I think I am getting better at figuring out my own style preferences. Ms B sends her love from the dog park, where we are now. And where it definitely is not snowing I am glad you like the slides. I thought some people might think it looked wrong with the first dress.

Brooklyn, I bet you make "skort-tee-sandals" looks fab. I LOVE the flat slides with the frock. So 2019! And PLEASE send some hot weather. This tropical gal is done with Snowmegedan.

Thanks Angie! It felt right. And I’ll trade you for some cooler weather.

Check out this gorgeous girl at the dog park. Now that’s style zen.

AWWWH. What a stylish cutie! Good mix of cool and warm tones. Flattering silhouette. Nice long leg line.

Wow... Your principal just called to say you're too cool for school !

You are killing it. That is all.

Angie, pink + red too! I should have linked it to your blog post!

Thanks Jenn and Cee!

I’ll be back later to respond to the other comments.

JAileen, thanks. Sounds like a great trip. I’ve seen some beautiful mosaics in Ravenna, Italy and that’s the vibe I’d like too. I don’t know much about Byzantine history but I read a little about it at the Met. They featured the jewellery at the exhibit and I was very attracted to it. I also associate “Byzantine” with complexity and I am feeling an attraction to more complex patterns, so the title fit from that perspective too.

ChristelJ, hi! And thanks for those kind remarks. I think way too much about style and fashion. It’s a creative outlet for me. But I’d like to channel more of my energy into planning and remixing and less into shopping. The re-purpose thing is part of that. My next project is to turn an unworn dress into a skirt.

Shevia and Robin, thank you!

Lyn, I tried to find a circle necklace on Etsy unsuccessfully. Then Zara came through! Thanks for your comments.

Nemosmom, thanks! I stalked that clutch for ages until the price came down. It’s a winner.

Janet, thanks. You’re one of mine too. I wish we could go shopping together.

Gryffin, wow, thank you. You have such a way with words. I don’t deserve that kind of praise! It’s interesting that you mention decor. I am re-decorating 2 rooms in my house at the moment. I was recently at an antique auction house and wondering how I could work in some quite ornate antique pieces (baroque style gilt, marble, Tiffany lamps). They have such character and history. But I also want my house to look modern and clean - not like a museum. It’s about achieving some kind of balance between old and new. So you are spot on - that’s what I want in this theme too.

Bijou, thank you for your lovely comments.

Katerina, I got my mum a beautiful peacock scarf from the Met Store and a Cartier style leopard brooch. Kind of wish I had kept them now...

I also loved this theme when you debuted it last year. I visited the NY Met a few months later and I wanted to spend as much time in the museum shop as I did the exhibits! As to their quality, I pulled out a pair of 30+ year old pair of the Met signature earrrings that were my moms and they still look great. I recolored them from gold to silver because I will wear them more. https://youlookfab.com/welookf.....-tone-hack

Also so impressed at how you have adapted the Byzantium theme t your warm season.

Can’t wait to see the other two themes!

OMG Brooklyn I love your Byzantine Jewel theme. I think your outfits fit the theme perfectly and are fabulous on you. I too absolutely love Byzantine art, jewelry, mosaics, etc. They just speak to me.

YES, Brooklyn. Pink and red too! TRENDY little Fashionista. I'm taking notes. Have these on order.

Angie, those will suit you to a tee. You are a trendy radiant fashionista.

Lynn, thanks! Wouldn’t it be great to see mosaic type patterns represented more in fashion.

Karen, the Met Store is so enticing isn’t it? And the way they sprinkle little outlets around the Museum to distract you when you are trying to concentrate on appreciating art It’s great that your earrings have gone the distance. Thanks for your comments.

Ha, no apologies needed!

Wow, these are gorgeous!

Great looks! You definitely have the right accessories to pull off this look even in the summer.
