...if Victoria Beckham were RATE.
This pic has been in my inspiration file since forever, as the Venn diagram overlap between VB's style and my own. But it took this challenge to make me straight up try to copy it.
Of course I could never pull off her level of polish, but I did try, sort of. My sleeve cuffs were folded more neatly than my usual, but didn't survive the treadmill in rehab this morning... I can't do her heels for work, but I planned to wear my sleekest pointier-toed loafers--which are not only falling apart but apparently MIA. So I substituted these patent-cap-toe ballerina wedges as sort of in the ballpark. Of course my shirt is untucked. My culottes are flowier but my tuxedo-lapel vest is more structured, so I think the balance is comparable.
I went around in my shades more than necessary for a very overcast day, but when I glanced at the inspiration pic to get the pose right, I didn't even see them (not like my bug-eye specs) so I left them off.
Looking again at the inspiration pic, I see she has hands in pockets (part of the nonchalance that appeals to me about this look.) And I remember that I also have tailored belted pocketed black culottes. And a black crewneck sweater vest. And a white shirt. Come fall weather mere weeks away, I'm going for a rematch.
