I love to try new things, new fits, volumes, but I notice that many pieces ended up orphans.
Lately my style is much more simple and clean:
Jeans or classic cropped pants
white button down shirt
Fab jacket or leather moto (this third piece is very important, as my office is cold and I never take it off).
Lower heels: flats or kitten heels
few or none jewelery
Navy has been my basic color, instead of black

Remember my pattern dresses and pencil skirts? I don't wear it anymore. I have 3 sheath dresses (white, red and navy) for a dinner or a corporate event.

Rute, I love this evolution of your style. It appears a very natural progression and very you. The significant change I notice would have to be flat shoes. I think heels have been a big part of your style previously. I just adore this streamlined and modern look on you. Do you think your shorter hair style precipitated part of this style evolution?

i have always been a big fan of your lady-like style, Rute. You look chic, and it is interesting to hear this update. I am interested that you don't wear high heels anymore. I have also felt myself gravitating toward a more simple and classical style.

Deborah, I don't think it was the hair, as my instinct with shorter hair was to go for a more lady-like outfit (i like contrasts).
My guess is that it started with the shoes, I spent my all life in heels, but now as I'm older, confort plays a big part, I go now for flats, pointy kitten heels.
With that came a cleaner, comfy, not fussy style.

Scarlet, I still wear kitten heels, I'm loving the pointy toe!
When we get older we don't want to do some of the things we did, like walking slower not to fall or put some band-aids just to wear big heels. We finally have the confidence to be ourselves and to dress for us.
And I guess it's all part of a new turn in my life towards a more clean style!

IMHO style evolution is a good thing - I too enjoy experimenting Rute and it keeps me from getting bored. Sure, it means there are closet orphans from time to time, but I see that as a natural by-product of being creative.

This outfit is a slam dunk in terms of gorgeous - beautiful lines and soft color palette.

Ditto to Shannon! It's good to refine a style and enjoy it thoroughly. The clean lines are gorgeous and polished.

I'm finding myself wanting lower heels, too. I am aware of protecting my feet for the future, but also, I just like to move a lot, and I don't like being slowed down by footwear!

Yes, Angie, I´m growing up my hair. I liked short, but my family says it looks better a bit longer (above the shoulders), so I will let it grow and see how I feel, it's a bit weird now.
Here people are too conservative about hair!

I came here from Astrid's thread about the white shirt to find an absolutely gorgeous look of it on you, Rute!!!! Love the jeans with flats, and this is another genial "white shirt look"(with a swing jacket) which goes to my inspiration folder! (To be adviced for Astrid, too:-))
