KILLER look. Hip, flattering and elegant. Good grief, Anne. Straight out of Vogue. You look sensational! I see perfection - not overly broad shoulders.

Strapless dresses actually look best on broad shouldered gals. Remember how great Tam looked in her strapless dress? And why I look awful in one.

I am also giving this an honorary killer (my killer isn't as weighty as Angie's). I LOVE this outfit. Love love love. I do not own any strapless dresses, otherwise I would be copying it. But if Angie says they look bad on narrow shoulders, I should probably stay away anyway and just enjoy it on you.

I may have to copy this look. I have broad shoulders, and like myself in strapless dresses- except that they tend to give me an underarm chub. The layering blouse would fix that issue.

I am upping my rating after looking at this incredible outfit again. It's KILLER to the power of KILLER, Anne. That's the highest level of appreciation and admiration that I can bestow on anything. You have blown me away.

Maya, we won't look bad in a strapless dress, just not stellar.Think of how dainty shouldered celebs like Nicole Kidman, Cate Blanchette and Nathalie Portman wear strapless gowns - it looks okay, but not fabulous. Then think of how magical broad shouldered gals like Renee Zellwegger and Reese Witherspoon pull off strapless gowns. Can't be beat.

Also, when you layer something underneath a strapless dress as a dainty shouldered lass, you can play around with the level of contrast between the dress and the layer to make the look more flattering.

Thanks so much for all the positive comments. Wow! I was pretty pleased with this outfit and had a few compliments when I wore it, but Angie's highest accolade came as a pleasant shock!

Funny the discussion about shoulders - I of course tend to think the dainty ones Angie mentioned (Cate et al) are the better ones! (old Grass is greener thing)

Khris, I think you would rock this look, especially since you have more of a bust than me! (a reason for me to wear the underneath layer is that I abit worried the dress will slip down otherwise)

Katiepea I think the waist is an optical illusion but I am happy with how it looks in this outfit too!

And can you all believe that this dress was an $8 op shop find!?

Oh, this is too FABULOUS with the puffed sleeves. I think your shoulders look balanced with your hips which makes your waist appear all the more TINY.

You've definitely inspired me to not give up on strapless dresses. I was always attracted to the style, but never knew how to wear it because I have a small bust. And Angie's comments about broader shoulders make total sense.

I also meant to add that the neckline of the dress is perfect for your body type, Anne. It's not a sweetheart strapless style, which is why it works especially well.
