Hi All

If we can have Earthy Spring I think we can have a Springy Fall....(or should this be Springing into Fall?)

Wrap Up late Summer and Shopping

I have added nine things to date to my closet in 2022 in the finds below.
In terms of my five piece French wardrobe all the tops are replacements of essentials, and the rest are statements or splurges.

The tank style tops and skirt are very new, but the trousers and boots have had a bit of wear to date, as have the gear top and light short sleeve linen sweater. The dress is in storage for vacation or next season - whichever comes first. I would have preferred the gear top to not be charcoal but actually I am liking the colour on me after a complete break from dark greys for a few years.

I have a HEWI of a new tailored coat but I am happy to take this search slowly and look first at second hand options. Aside from this I am open to a new woven blouse or shirt, and a replacement grey merino for my one that my son shrunk in the wash (it's wearable but has lost the slouch). I am also looking for a light coloured belt and a beautiful new scarf.... again there is no rush. I feel very satisfied with my current wardrobe and waiting to see what the year brings (maybe travel, maybe just more of the same, or maybe more formal business occasions).

On the gear side, I am biking to work regularly now and looking for a new bright hi-vis tee shirt or cycling top. I am trying to embed the habit of once a week and then move to twice (its a 30km round trip).

Realisations/Lessons and struggles

I think of tonal colours, pattern mixing and colour blocking as tools to make outfits more modern so I am going to experiment over upcoming weeks to see what I can do. It's sort of breaking the old "rules" - some of which I do really happily now (mixing shades of white, mixing navy and black, and sneakers with midi skirts and dresses).

But whilst I am happy wearing bold colour and pattern - I rarely do this in solid pieces. I don't often colour block. If I wear a solid bright colour (eg my yellow blazer) I usually wear it with neutrals. I could step up my pattern mixing game too.

Of my new additions I am struggling a bit with my new boots. I could not get WIW pictures that I was happy with - they are a new shape on me. I think an outfit lab may be needed.

And my new skirt (it's a Paula Ryan piece on final sale/clearance) might also need some ideas. I am wearing this below but am looking for other ideas. The shape reminded me of both Brooklyn and Janet who wear these midi/midaxi skirts so very well.

WIW

A very simple group of outfits here. I am not wanting too much fuss at the moment and the autumn weather is the easiest to dress for.

Photo 1  I inherited this blue sweater from my husband. Worn for     working at home in a very easy outfit and to work (with the     Levis jeans, vintage scarf and new boots)

Photo 2 Mixing the feminine and the masculine for working at the office     & my new skirt and tank with denim jacket & sneakers.

Photo 3 Two basic denim looks - one for weekend tennis watching and      one for a lovely Malaysian meal with friends.

Feedback is welcome especially on my new boots and skirts, or ideas for pattern mixing or colour blocking for me.

Thanks for looking!!
