spring outerwear - difficult decision

I ordered this trench from BR which was in YLF store. I just love orange and couldn't resist it. http://youlookfab.com/store/20.....ed-trench/
But now I am second guessing myself. Do I really need a trench coat? I already have a classic trench #1 and a red jacket/trench #2. The new trench is #3.
I am strongly leaning towards returning it and buying a Danier leather jacket instead. I currently don't own any Danier jackets.
What do you guys suggest?

I actually think #1 reads more casual than a classic longer belted trench. And #3 is a big step up from #2 style wise. Love the orange on you! Unless #2 has practical gear aspects (waterproof, hidden hood) that are useful for your lifestyle I would upgrade to #3.

If it was me I'd go with the leather jacket - I can wear mine right through winter. Which one would work with your wardrobe for more of the year?

Danier jacket.

I like the orange trench, but fabulous leather jacket is hard to find so get yours while you can.

Jules, thanks for pinpointing what is wrong with #2. It is a few years old and definitely too big for me now. It should be donated soon.
Thanks Caro and Ornella. I have my eyes on a fabulous Danier jacket but it is too out of my budget right now. I have been waiting patiently for it to come on sale but honestly, I don't know how much longer I can keep waiting. What do you guys think about the sizing on orange trench? The sleeves are too big, no?

I think there were pictures of you wearing this and looking totally fab? It is a great jacket. A lot of their other spring stuff is 50% off already. Sorry I'm not much help it's hard to compare a leather jacket to a trench!

Yes, this is the jacket I tried on with Suz. but right now there are so many others spirng-coloured ones at much lower price point . I dont know if I should just keep waiting for this one.

This really IS a tough decision! I don't know what to recommend.

The leather jacket is sensational and will elevate your entire wardrobe. The trench is super-fun, and very useful in our spring and autumn.

And I don't think it is a duplicate of #1 at all.

The trouble with your Danier jacket is that it's too darn nice! It is from the Blink line. My taupe jacket is also from this line. They DO put those on sale (as you have seen) but the price point doesn't go as low as for the regular jackets, until it goes to the outlet. Right now, "my" taupe jacket (that Shannon owns in black) IS at the outlet and 40% off the sale price that I paid. So it does happen, but it could take a year or more for it to go down in price a whole lot more.

Sveta seems to be our Danier expert. Maybe when she comes back she can advise about this. You have a 60 day window for the BR return I think?

Thanks for taking the time to reply, Suz. What do you think about the sizing on orange trench? I find the sleeves too big but it fits nicely on shoulders.

I really love the streamlined look of the orange trench. Do you think it is something that you will be able to get a lot of wear out of? The Danier jacket is divine too--in that gorgeous neutral, it may be more versatile than the orange trench. How many months out of the year would you be able to wear the trench? What about the jacket?

Mona - do you need a full length trench? The fit on this coat (#3) is not perfect for you. And while you can wear orange like nobody's business is this the colour you want for your classic trench? Coat below from BR is actually a soft cream and would be very versatile.
But if you don't need a full length trench, then wait for your heart's desire - the Danier jacket will go on sale. If your size sells out in your area - I am surrounded by 3 Daniers, and will happily search for you.

Oh, I am so bummed out -- I had decided to get the same jacket as Suz and Shannon but my size is gone in the black. I think I would be a S or an XS. Oh well, not meant to be I guess.

Mona, the sleeves on the orange trench are a bit long. Nothing too bad, but it is issue for you now and without an alteration it may be a bigger one in time to come.

Thanks merwoman, so kind of you. The thing is I need a trench coat for spring outerwear. I currently don't own any. I ordered a large size in this orange trench and I think it is on the bigger side. Also, I love orange colour and when I saw this trench in YLF store, I put it on my spring shopping list right away. This white one is gorgeous too. Maybe I should order this one too and see if that fits better.

kellygirl, the leather jacket will be worn in spring, fall and winter. I plan to use it indoors as well as outdoors as my office is always freezing and I always wear a topper at work. The trench will be worn in fall and spring but not winter. They are both important wardrobe holes right now but I can only afford one due to budget constraints. BTW, i had to go for a dental procedure unexpectedly and it seriously put me in the hole. This is despite the fact that both me and hubs have dental insurance through work.
Ceit, you just got the bernardo jacket and that is so perfect on you. Hopefully some thing else will suit your style from Danier.

Yes, I think the sleeves could be altered...but that is not such a big job. Although if they have to move the tab, it might be more costly than expected.

The sleeves on my London Fog trench are on the long side but I left them that way. When I wear a jacket underneath they are not so long. And I figured (like Rae) that when it is raining I actually want a longer sleeve. I'm usually one to go for shorter sleeves, too, so this decision surprised me a bit!

So sorry to hear about your dental issues. It is so frustrating. I do think it's likely that your jacket at Danier will stay available for a while - I don't think it will sell out too quickly. But then again, they do tend to send them to the outlet only when they are low on sizes, as Ceit has just discovered. Sad for Ceit!!

My vote is for returning. I'm not keen on this shade of orange on you or the fit. I don't find it an improvement, and even if the red is a little big, I find you're cuter in it actually.

p.s. I really like your hair pulled back. Like the little ladies always say, shows off your pretty face!

Mona I'm in Whitby - there's a Danier Factory outlet nearby in Ajax and another one in Pickering - both on my way home from work. Plus 3 or 4 regular Danier stores - honestly it's amazing I am not dressed head to toe in leather. Happy to help out in any way.
I tried on the BR trench in the picture (and have it on order) and loved it. I've ordered XS primarily because of sleeve length (too long), and excess fabric pleating at the back in the S. The creamy white just brightens up my face. You look amazing in cream and I prefer the double breasted fit on you compared to the other two coats in the photos...so I thought I would try to sell you on "my" trench....hope I haven't muddled things up for you.
