Not as many photos this month, because many of my outfits were repeats from the first month, and many of these are just a simple “jeans and graphic tee” formula, but the spring capsule is still doing a great job at filling my needs, both for variety and simplicity. Here's the capsule and here's month one. At this point, every capsule item has been worn at least once.
Since we're now three weeks from when I'll switch to my summer capsule, I'm ready to start planning. Here's what's on my mind.
- I really liked having all my essentials available and making the "capsule" idea more about rotating my statement pieces. I plan to repeat that for summer. It also helps in keeping my essentials front and center year-round, so I don't duplicate unnecessarily.
- So far this year, I've purchased two statements--one each season--with everything else being essentials, duplicate essentials (in function, not direct), gear, or basics. One new statement per season feels just right given the current state of my wardrobe, and I think I'll stick with that. Or not. Summers are long here, so if my gut ends up calling for two, I'll listen.
- I need to make a travel capsule! We haven't traveled more than 100 miles from home in a year and a half...and that 100-mile trip was to track down vaccine doses. That hasn't been a huge hardship, as we've been busily exploring our new city, but this summer we have plans to drive a 2000-mile odyssey along the Pacific Coast Highway from LA to Seattle and back. There will be plenty of space in the trunk, and I'll need to cover multiple outdoor/city activities from San Francisco, Portland, Seattle, and possibly, Vancouver, if conditions and regulations allow. Outdoor environments will range from beach to forest to mountain. Plus a cool 42 hours in the car driving.
- I have no idea what my statement will be for summer, but I do have some essentials-refreshing to do with at least one additional black or white summer top, a black wrap (or faux-wrap) skirt, and a lightweight sweater (cardigan or breezy pullover). Also maybe new sneakers. I'm curious about Cariumas. Anyone know anything about them?
