Spin-off: items you wish you could find

Spinning off on the "dislikes" thread, what do you wish you COULD find? I would love to be able to find:

Fit and flare dresses that I can zip up at the waist. Sometimes I'll try one on and it will hang so nicely until I get to the middle of zipping it up, then it's like I'm squeezing myself into a vise. WHY?

Sheath and shift dresses with V necks. Why are these so hard to find? And long sleeves would be nice too.

Slouchy trousers for winter weather (AIDA!).

I will think of more but over to you!

Button up collar shirts that I don't feel restricted in. No idea why.

More shirts with elbow sleeves. Hate short sleeves with my thick upper arms.

Belts that fit. In Women's sizing. I've recently thanks to YLF discovered I can buy mens belts but it doesn't feel so great or feminine

I'm sure there are more but that's a start.

Fitted woven shirts that aren't too tight in the biceps. Any dress with a waist seam where the waist seam actually hits at my waist rather than halfway up my ribcage.

On another note, so many boots these days have that intentionally weathered detail on the toes where it's darker. This is so not my thing - I'd rather they look new when they're new and the weathering is usually so fake looking. There are several pairs of boots I would have purchased recently except for that.

Dresses 39" or longer in a warm autumn colour, with appropriate necklines. Also ballet flats that are supportive and comfortable, in some shade of brown.

A solid color, casual day dress that falls below the knee, with sleeves, in an interesting, non-office-y style that is not a shapeless shift. I don't think I'm ever going to find it.

Shift and sheath dresses that I can zip up over my butt without the waist being a baggy mess.

Pumps that I won't walk out of.

Cigarette pants with minimal stretch (so not ponte or 2 way stretch or any knits) and <10" ankles. Seriously, 12" is NOT a skinny leg opening.

Did you see these pants at Massimo Dutti? I had hoped to see them in person while I was in NY and didn't get there, but I'm pretty intrigued by the flannel ones and may order them to try.

A long-sleeved, causal knit tee that is long enough in the waist and thick enough that I don't need to wear a camisole underneath it. It seems like all of the longer ones are super thin and see through, and sometimes a cami can make them look extra bunchy or bulky.

I have more or less given up on the cigarette pants thing. I just ordered a duplicate of my grey jeggings in black, a size up so hopefully they won't be quite as skintight... yes, they are stretchy but CoH uses some kind of weird Japanese super stretch fabric that is surprisingly not itchy or clingy and only has 2% spandex.

I'd love to find a nice pair of classic tailored pants in black watch plaid and one in glen plaid. ( I had some but lost weight and have not had good luck having pants taken in.) Pendleton has some but they are in their most classic silhouette, which it find a little frumpy. If they had them at talbots, they would probably not be all wool and might not be lined. Maybe brooks brothers will gave some eventually. I can wait! And I have a hard time finding skirts or dresses that are long enough to cover the knee on my 5'9"frame. Therefore, it's pants all the time.

Diana, I get them from family in India but there are supercheap ones on ebay. I had the Avedons for a long time but had a huge problem with them sliding down my hips, even in a size down. Are you looking for true cigarette pants? Because I buy jersey churidars which are like leggings with a 41" length for lots of scrunch! Maybe not what you wanted but lots of fun.

Una, I like that first dress, but would want a more muted color -- that's a lot of bright red for me! The second one reminds me of my Bailey 44 tiered dress -- I'd like something less bodycon. But thank you! I hadn't even looked at BCBG at dresses, I was so fixated on the long jacket.

Viva, I love the look of those MD flannel trousers! But are they pleated? I would love something like that, but I am a terrible fit with trousers. I've all but given up, figuring I wear jeans more anyway. If something is miraculous enough to fit me in the hips and thighs AND rise, it's invariably too short in the inseam. If anyone has any sense that these might work on someone generous of thigh and hip, let me know. I have no experience with that label at all. Somehow looking at the model photo, I doubt they'd work for me, but I'd love to try if they were a possibility. I have a weird soft spot for grey flannel and would love to add some to my wardrobe.

The "slick" Avedons (their name for the superstretch fabric) are not the same as the regular denim Avedons. I can't get the regular ones over my butt even in a 32 (my slick avedons are a 29).

I'm also looking for leggings alternatives these days... Recently I seem to have developed a hypersensitivity to many kinds of fabrics with too much spandex or poly touching my thighs, so a lot of leggings make me itchy, especially things like ponte pants and the like. (That's the real reason for my "no 2 way stretch or ponte" requirement.) Even my AG Nikkis are kind of itchy. Luckily my Gap modal leggings are still good, but they are pretty thin and *definitely* not pants.

I had the "slick" ones in black. They were really stretchy! But as you know, I have no hips to hold them up...

Funny about the itch factor - wonder if's the elastic?

Pale pearl gray, off white, or silver leather booties with no extraneous doodads, not cowboy style, not high heeled --- and in my price range on sale (under 100$). Oh, and that fit my ankles so that they work with skirts too.

I've found a few just out of my price range, but I've walked every shoe store and trawled the internet and there are rows and rows of black and brown booties with the occasional steel gray, but not much paler that doesn't have a brownish earthy taupe tone.

Niki-- the GAP supersoft Bowery tees this year are super thick and pretty long. Plus, you are probably tall enough to get away with a tall if you think you need the extra length. The sleeves are nice and slim so they scrunch well, and shortening sleeves is usually a cheap and easy tailoring fix, although I do understand balking at shortening the sleeves on a tee shirt. High quality and mine usually last for several years of heavy wear.

Skirts/trousers that fit my hips without needing the waist to be taken in.

Pumps with wide toe boxes that stayed on my heels.

Wrap dresses that didn't require cami for decency.

FYI: I've found opaque tees at Target (Merona ultimate tees) and from Three Dots. Everlane and ON Vintage Tees are OK if you stay away from the white ones.

White straight leg jeans which fit well and are long enough.
Non-black dressy boots I can wear in our winters (read substantial sole, warm lining, slip-resistant sole, waterproof...)
Perfectly fitting navy blazer which is long enough for me.
Long and flattering down puffer in non-black color and at least knee length on me.

Belts with self-buckles or matching color buckles. (Often don't want a navel -level ornament).
Sheath dresses for pears, with slightly more room in hips and not body-con.
All kinds of dresses with sleeves.
Pants without side pockets--can no longer use them for all the stuff I've got anyway, and they pooch out unnecessarily.
Perfect low bootie that hugs ankle and looks good with tights--no flower pot.
Black wool pencil skirt to replace one--haven't found the perfec fit and fabrication.
