Wow, Rae, glad to hear you are OK. That must have been scary. The news reports seem a bit confused about what actually happened, but anytime I see police officers with drawn guns, I'd like to be far away from the situation! Glad that you are home, safe and sound!

Swat busted several doors in order to get us out. I'm sure there are at least a couple days off. Still debating if I am able to return after that. We were held at gunpoint and made to strip, then told to line up faces against the wall in the restroom... not my favorite things ever.

Oh, that's so awful & terrifying!! So, so sorry.

Hopefully, Nordstrom's or the LAPD will offer "victim counseling"... there's probably a more PC term, but I don't know it....I highly advise taking advantage of the offer....it can really help you get past this. But in my experience you'll be spooked for awhile. Hope hubs is with you. It really helps to tell your story over and over to anyone who will listen.

So glad that this didn't end up any worse. I can't imagine what you've been through. I am so sorry. Your husband must have been beside himself with worry. Sickening.

well, it was worse for some. one girl stabbed and pistol-whipped, one girl raped. uncomfortable even typing that part, so I guess I'm not shocked to see I forgot it in my above account... The girl who was raped is the same age as my little sister - totally disgusting. both girls were taken to the hospital. we heard from the husband that the one who was stabbed was released from the hospital and is resting at home.

we do have the info of counselors, and DH talked to them while he waited outside for several hours while the police tried to figure out how to enter the building.

I would take up the offer for counseling. I was spooked for some time after my incident. I hope you didn't have to witness the cruel acts toward those other girls. Big hugs.

It is interesting how much incorrect info has been reported throughout the day. Lots of inaccuracies especially in the Huffpost article. I won't get into detail since the investigation is ongoing, but the press seems to embellish a lot and either take the word of bad sources or flat-out make things up.

Mary, I have not slept since my nap yesterday from 2-3pm. I figured I'd be out by now, but I simply cannot relax. maybe I will try to join for some TLC in pasadena if traffic allows...

OMG Rae, how scary, gosh. I'm shaking here. I am so glad you are ok, this is crazy. What in the heck is happening with this country? My gosh, unbelievable! We got no news coverage whatsoever here about it.

Sometimes I hate the OT tab, I always forget to check it.

I am just happy you are ok.

OMG Rae, I just read the last piece you wrote. Take the counseling, traumatic events take a while to affect the mind. I actually suffer from PTDS,from my battle with acne. It sounds silly but yes, it is awful how things you think you are handling well, just rot inside of you to surface years later. I know it is too soon but consider it.

I'm sorry that someone unstable has put you in this situation Rae. It isn't right and I feel for you. I've been held at gunpoint before twice-- once in a similar degrading context involving nudity/sexual assault. Remember that assaults of this manner are about fear and control. I'm not saying you shouldn't feel violated, but that idiots only succeed if they keep you from feeling like the strong, powerful woman that you are. Please find someone who you can talk to about it soon, I didn't for a long time and it was a big mistake.

The press is notorious for misreporting in these type of situations, and it irritates me. I personally don't read about situations where I actually have first-hand info (or second-hand, my SO is a police officer).
