Sorbaria kirilowii

Sorbaria kirilowii : that's the name of a tree planted in the botanical garden where I met Shevia last week.

I love that tree, and its beige/tan/white flowers - turning into brown/orange very fast though - and I took it as inspiration for my outfits this week, by wearing tonal pale colours.

So beautiful -- both the tree and your outfits. The blousey blush sweater echoes the shape of the tree, overspilling itself. Your shoes in #4 echo the now-orange.

What a delightful set of simple and soothing outfits, Isabelle. The calm jumps off my phone screen. #2 and #3 are my best. I love that style of top on you. Raglan sleeves look good on dainty shoulders.

I showed my family Isabelle's tree on our way out! My favorite is the first one - you have captured the serene beauty of the tree itself.

Ok, with such a weird post title I just had to take a look... I was thinking you'd taken up talking Klingon or something!

Now I know what you mean, I'm in awe of how pretty that tree looks. No wonder it's your favourite. The colours are gorgeous....as are the colours you chose for your outfits. You have some fabulous knitwear, you know Isabelle. I may have to steal some of your sweaters The lovely pale peachy tones and soft grey really appeal to me. I agree with Angie about the raglan sleeve shape on you too, it's very flattering. As per usual, your shoes are fab too.

It's funny how this outfit creation process works. I didn't think of the colours as soothing...still yoga came to mind when I took pictures (and I've never been to a yoga class in my life, I don't even know how I know about the tree pose!)

Suz : I like your "overspilling" description - so accurate.
I do have a soft spot for fluid knits overspilling over trousers.

Jaime : I took a photograph of the tag, that's how. No way I could remember that name all the way back home at my advanced age
I didn't even recollect the colours correctly!

Isabelle, look what I saw on my walk last night. It is a different tree, but turns the same colour. We call this a tree lilac or Japanese lilac tree, but the Latin name is Syringa reticulata. It reminded me of yours, but not spilling over in the same way. More upright. These ones do look a little different from usual because we are having an extremely dry spring and summer; you can see how the grass is all brown here.

ETA you have the perfect body type for fluid knits with trousers. It is a signature look. (I love this look myself even with shorter legs but a similar rectangular type top shape).

Beautiful, soothing, calming palette. I can't pick a favourite at all, but I do love the 1st & 2nd outfits ALOT!

Love the soft colors on you --- the simplicity keeps it modern, rather than overtly "girly." The raglan sleeve if particularly fab -- along with the fancy tree, of course!

Suz : ha, surely the trees are related, your version is more grand and dignified all upright like that and thanks for your sweet comment.

Maneera : pictures can be deceptive, I couldn't hold the pose for more than one second and was not supple enough to put my foot above my knee

Beth Ann : thank you. It was an experiment, I'm not a fan of columns of colours, esp in pale colours, in general. It was interesting to hear they give a soft, soothing, calm vibe.
