Love love love! I had one of those little black apron dresses, which I wore with a white bodysuit or gray ribbed turtleneck under, black tights and booties. Would wear the same thing today if I had it! Oh 90s, how I love thee!

I like the idea of longer jackets and the midi length skirts and dresses, but I don’t have the body anymore for those snug ribbed tops. And keep those acid washed jeans far away from me — ack!

I really like the boot cut leggings with the longer dresses over them in the same colour. Fab kind of avant-garde minimalist look or something like that Want to wear it now

I will need some time to adjust my eye to the acid jeans.

As with any look back to a certain era, some of these looks are great, and others not so much but fashion retail relies on the turnover resulting from trendy nods to the past. I'm glad I'm old enough and experienced enough to be able to ignore most of this stuff. The dresses and longer skirts will continue to look elegant and stylish forever - when styled well and properly fitted.

Early 90s was a fun time. Really fun. Salt n Peppa and MC Hammer. Neon colours. T-shirts made out of that fabric that changed colour! Vuarnet mocknecks. Omg, does anybody remember those?! Huge in Quebec.

Oh and Club Monaco sweatshirts with the circle logo!! Those were the coolest!!

Smittie, I had the vuarnet and CM sweatshirt, as well as the CM reusable shopper ... Ahead of their time!

I like the longer skirts, but a lot of those looks are too voluminous or too young for my style. And a firm no on acid washed jeans, especially with all the extra volume in the hips/bum! But I have been enjoying my mules the last few warmer days

These are fun to look at, but I probably won't be buying too many of them. Most of the looks have too much volume and will swamp my small frame. I like the look of the slip dresses but feel that they are a little young for me. And the acid wash jeans remind me of going to algebra class in 11th grade...so I'm going to skip that trend!

Well this takes me back! The 90s were a great time in my life. I had one of those apron dresses (in denim of course) too. I also had lots of ribbed tops. As well, I had voluminious dresses and suits. So much fun.

In fashion, like in music, I wonder if we tend to embrace decades/fashion eras in which we “had the most fun,” as SF indicates. The 90s were a tough decade for me (lost my dad in ‘91 and struggled with depression for years following), and I feel rather ambivalent about 90s nostalgia. I am not a huge adherent to any past decade — I tend to pick and choose vibes and details from various decades. Interesting to ponder.

Janet - I think you're right. I know for sure in my case, I love 90s fashion because I 'came of fashion age' in the 90s - that was my teens/early 20s, when I made all my own choices, had a bit of money to spend, etc.

I can understand for sure that the reverse would also be true - a difficult time would not inspire happy fashion memories, not least of all because that was probably the last thing on your mind in the first place.

I am a bit ambivalent about nostalgia in general - as much as I love looking back at these styles, I'm not one to glorify the past at all (I'm sure most of us aren't) - despite obvious problems today, I wouldn't go back. As Angie says, in a slightly different context, but nonetheless - ONWARDS. Always.

Torontogirl we are about the same age I think - just wondering if you watched the CBC show Being Erica? She was also a 90s youth and some of the flashback/time travel scenes just nailed the 90s clothes and vibe so well.

Jules yes! I'll have to rewatch from a fashion perspective.
