I sort’ve missed out on the 90s, fashion-wise. Those look to me like something a 60s or 70s Flower Child would wear. But if fashion cycles are 20+ years.....
Square toes!!!! After years of poison eye I realize that now I miss them. I had a pair of black knee-highs from 2000 with square toes and a similar but lower heel. It'll be fun to see this trend return. These are groovy!
Link didn’t work - maybe a US Topshop issue but good lord , someone please stop me if I ever wear these again ! I had these exact boots back in the day and they were the coolest yet least comfortable things ever . I wore them with skirts and was quite pleased with myself .
Yes Laura I had freelance black leather boots ! They were perfect for skinny ankles and amazing quality. Bought them on a trip to Paris early 2000’s. I used to love square toe boots. Still have a pair almost identical to yours (another brand) and think I must haul them out now.
Partly thanks to you lot I gave my 2008 square toes away last year. Dated, you all said... think I was over them though. No regrets. If they were still loved, I wouldn't have listened to any of you
Fun to see some fellow Freelance fans! And yes to them being fab for skinny ankles! I recall nearly fainting when I paid $300 at Barney's for a pair, but they did last for years. I also had a pair of chunky black loafers from Freelance and clomped all over Manhattan in them. Ah, the 90s!
So fun! I have these square toe shoes from Sergio Rossi, wanted to pass them on a few times, but kept them because I love the quality. Do you mean they are getting trendy now LOL?
Those remind me of some burgundy square toe booties that I had and loved for years — I think they were Nine West. I kind of like mixing things up with a square toe as long as it’s not too extreme, but I’m not doing heels that high anymore.
I had some similar in dark brown too, but will pass on the extreme square toe this time round. I don't mind the rounded square toes though-and have some soft furry snow boots with it
I've kept a pair of Ralph Lauren nipped-toe boots from that era because they are so pretty: bitter chocolate suede, over the ankle, gorgeous with long, boot-legged trousers. Not sure my feet can still handle the 3" heels, though!
