Something just feels off here...

I wore this outfit out to a movie with my husband. I liked it in the mirror and then I discovered the photo...

I think the Ann Taylor wrap dress is in much more muted tones than I typically wear..
I think the jeans jacket helps with the muted tones..
I think the boots might be the issue????

Any suggestions on how to tweak this one?

It's still a very lovely outfit. Maybe replace the gray tall boots with a colored shoe?

I think if you unbutton the jean jacket you're set. The buttons with the wrap with the cami may be it? The tones of the boots and the dress and the cami look great and I love the denim jacket on top (blue and taupe are great together IMO). Hoping some more experienced voices will chime in, I'm still learning

How is it with the jacket open? I think with the jacket closed and the boots and skirt of the dress overlapping, we lose your shape.

I think it's the closed jacket that's the problem. Nice outfit otherwise, IMO, and the colors go well together. I personally prefer not to have a gap between skirt and boots, but that's because I'm petite and do everything possible to elongate my silouette.

I think it works. Like other posters have mentioned I'd unbutton the jacket. I think switching out the necklace you are wearing for one with more color might punch it up a bit as well.

Feel like a bit of lower contrast topper would have been worked better, but denim jackets are allways a good choice, so don't have to worry, this is still a lovely outfit!
(do you have a more fadded denim jacket for ex?)

I think the grey boots although very nice looking, for this particular outfit doesn't seem to balance the jacket on top in terms of the look. It seems your dress is of a light weight fabric and the jacket with the darker color seems to draw the eyes to your upper body. The grey boots don't create enough of a contrast below in comparison. While I don't think it's always necessary to have this factor in your outfits each time, in this case a pair of brown/ black boots might do the trick. And infact if the boots are the cuffed type, that can be folded over, showing a little knee might help even more with the balancing bit.

I like this outfit and don't think there's anything wrong with it, although I would unbutton the jacket.

That said, if you are very sensitive to color pairings I would swap that jacket out for something else - darker denim, lighter denim, a cardi in a muted tone, a jacket in a muted tone - something like that. I think it's the bright, medium blue denim that isn't playing well with the beautiful beige/grey/white tones.

I would switch out the denim jacket for a cardi, either in a bright contrasting color, or in a blending similar muted tone for a tonal look head to toe.

I like this! I think the flash may be washing out the color in the photo. Perhaps this is one reason you liked it better IRL? I agree to try unbuttoned might be even better.

The dress' color *is* a bit cold. It makes sense to want to add in deeper color. I kinda feel, though, the jean jacket is not relating that much to the dress and boots. I'd maybe do less dressy boots to give the jacket company. I think that could work better, even tho the dress would now be *on it's own.* The dress is the star of the show and I think it doesn't need company like the jacket does.
