Had a wonderful trip to Cabo over the past 11 days. We were there for a wedding, so we had a few wedding activities to attend, plus lots of family time (just the 4 of us) doing pool/beach activities. We were fortunate enough to have a friend who let us stay at his casita which had 2 bedrooms, kitchen, private pool, plus access to a private pool/club area. The rest of the wedding-goers were at a very-closeby resort, which we were able to access with our little golf cart provided by the casita. All in all a fabulous, warm, relaxing family vacation.
What I've learned: We have been fortunate to be on 3 tropical vacations so far this year. Each time I pare down my travel capsule more and more. I tend to travel with black & white as my main go-to. Having laundry facilities is wonderful and enables me to pare it down even more. I had no idea it was going to be so crazy hot - so I didn't need a few things like my white BF's and a longer sleeved dress or two. Here's what worked:
1) Travel outfit - YAY for R&B pajama jeans! Perfect for travel! Paired with Vince cashmere and SE Trinas...photo was taken at 5AM by DS outside the house waiting for cab...
2) After a grocery run the first AM (note strong coffee), Gap camo shorts, Gap tank
3) This is my tropical "hang out" dress by Joe Fresh. I've had it for years and always wear it on vacation after hot days...super casual.
4) Fishing - this is the dorado (mahimahi) that I reeled in. We caught 5 (and cooked them for dinner - fantastic!). Gap shorts, grey Costa Blanca T, Mexican vendor fedora, Prada sunnies
5) typical pool outfit - Aqua (by La Vie En Rose) cover up, Aqua bikini (I swear by them), Mexican fedora
6) Wore to a wedding "welcome event" on the beach. Jacob maxi dress, Camper sandals, BR necklace. This photo makes me laugh b/c I had NO IDEA this dress was WAY.TOO.SHORT for a maxi dress. Oh well, who the heck cares. I wonder if I can style this in the winter with boots and a sweater on top. Is there any hope? Is the length way way off? Suggestions welcome.
7) Wore this dress at least 3 times. It is my hilarious $5 sale dress from Old Navy and it is spectacular in the heat. Not tight, loose, but works with everything.
8) Same Old Navy Dress. BR clutch.
9) My workhorse black Nicole Bridger pantaloon shorts, Old Navy black tank, Lia Sophia necklace, BR clutch, SE trinas
10) Same pantaloon shorts, white Old Navy tank, Lia Sophia Necklace, Camper sandals
11) wedding outfit - I realize ruffles are a bit out, but the dress works with my neckline. DH was emphatic about preferring a black dress so here it is. BR clutch, and (not seen) 9West nude shoes. It was crazy.spectacularly.amazingly HOT HOT HOT out that late afternoon....
11) Travel outfit home - R&B pajama jeans, White Vince Tshirt, SE Trinas
Glad to be back. Comments & suggestions appreciated (esp about that maxi (or should i say midi) dress in #6)
