Hello all! I was inspired by Mirjana's recent Parisian outfits, to reach for my own version of classic Parisian style. Although, rather than ladylike elegance, I am all about the stripes.
1. Sweater thrifted from men's department; knit jean-style pants in a bright navy exactly like the stripe; equestrian scarf bought in Rome 30 years ago.
I was complimented on this outfit, I think it was the coordinating socks that did it. Only happened because I was out of clean white socks.
The complimenter didn't notice the shoes, nor did I until I took the photo. One navy, one black, and I have another pair at home just like it.
2. I've been waiting for the right weather for this outfit. Striped T, wide-leg pants, white sneakers. Plus a pastel scarf, since only the crocuses are blooming so far.
Sneakers in spring always make me happy: no need for boots, and the bouncy feel of the earth under my feet!
(And of course the ubiquitous trench.)
3. I was reading about classic British outfits, and the floral dress/knit vest combo appealed. I didn't think I had the pieces... until I opened the closet door.
The proportions would have been improved with a belt (I don't like being chopped in half vertically) but that would have felt too fussy, so I embraced the baggy/dropped waist.
This was worn to church, hence the Mary Janes. If I wore something this feminine to work, I'd pair it with chunky boots or sneakers.
I am feeling my silk scarves lately. They always make me feel Euro chic, channeling the elegant German ladies of my acquaintance in the 60s and 70s.
