I'm going to enable your coat-collecting! Aside from the brightness and festivity of the holidays, I find winter is dark, dull, depressing, and freakin' COLD. So if a coat gives you joy to purchase and wear, AND it's in your budget and it's your aesthetic, and you have the space to store it, AND you have an environmentally responsible plan for it when/if you decide it doesn't suit your lifestyle any longer.... why not? I have more coats and jackets than I can quickly count - most of them, I have had for years (decades for one coat), and I find it joyful to rotate my outerwear. If a new-to-you coat brings joy, I say go for it.
