I feel ahead of the game with the new snake skin square toe ankle strap pumps I got in London in June. Fluke!

Arrgh, the eternal fashion cycle!

I guess I'm ahead with my Born pumps. Had felt sqeamish about wearing sometimes due to all the pointy-ness out there.

Square offers higher likelihood of toebox room, but what I'd like is that more square is in and rounded/almond is also in. In-in, win-win!

I've been seeing them for a while...I like them. I hope we continue to have a variety. I am a huge pointy toe lover, too. I like almond, pointy, and square, but round least of all (although I do like that on some shoes also.)

Unfrumped, pointy toes are still soooooo on trend, as well as modern classic. In fact. I think they might become an iconic classic

I can wear the snipped toe but the square toes do not fit me well. I have pointed toes.

I got tired of the slim snipped toe loafers from awhile back and I'm not so fond of square toed loafers. Squared pumps have some "aerodynamic" properties that can make them more wearable, as heels.

Yes, probably, Angie -- I don't own a pair so I was thinking of the Kimi's from memory only. A different sort of square if they are square, but I was just wondering if that loafer trend set something in motion in terms of shapes.

Square toes were big for a while in both the 60s and the 70s, no? But differently square.

Interesting. I'm not sure my eye has adjusted yet. Especially with respect to "my" styles of shoes (i.e Boots and oxfords). I feel like this is a rather delicate, feminine style that is easier to do well with things like pumps or loafers. On the heavier, more masculine shoe styles do you think the 90's style, square toed platform is coming back?

I like the pointy toes but my feet are not good fit for them AT ALL!
I will welcome the square ad snipped toes if styles appeal to me.
Angie, can they be square and refined in the same time? I don't like the chunky styles...

I have had Charles David Spanish syle riding boots with a square toe for many years. Still elegant and flattering. Also ariats r snip toe cowboy boots. Best there is with bootcut jeans! Pointy toes still rule for flats. Just love all the variety!! So much fun shaking things up!!

Why does this have to happen just when I have replaced my square toed black boots with round toe ones! (I expect my boots to last years, and bought the last pair in 2009)

However I didn't buy any pointy toe shoes anyway - keeping up with shoe fashion with my feet requirements is pretty much a losing battle.

I like them on a shoe with a good bit of heel (or, in the case of your Clarks, the delicate strap) , otherwise, too masculine looking for me. I have a fear of looking masculine that informs all fashion decisions

Hmm, probably one of my less favorite toe shapes (my feet tend to fit pointy and almond toes well), but I'm willing to try the trend if it comes around in a style I absolutely adore. I had a pair of burgundy heeled booties with a square toe years ago, and I loved those. I got rid of them when they started looking ridiculously passé. Of course, now I wish I still had them.

Janet, my feet are almond shaped like yours, but I do like this form of elegant square toe. It's less severe and prettier than the '90s version.

Once had a pair of squared off pointy toes (is that snipped?) in butterscotch with a dull gold buckle. LOVED those shoes, but they were a 10 and half a size too big. I used to put ballerina toe-shoe wool in the toe so that I wouldn't walk out of them. Eventually they grew too inconvenient, so into the donation bin.

I'm loving pointy toe flats, and slip on sneaker style too much right now - but with a (new) understanding of how important footwear is to an over all (au courant) look, I will be keeping this trend in mind.
