Hi Ladies,

I never would have thought I would wear sneakers! I do have a pair of Cons like black and white sneakers but they get worn maybe once every 6 months BUT I have been cautiiously intrigued by the sneakers with the hidden wedge heel and finally caved and bought a pair. They are amazing. I have worn them heaps and they are proving to be a work horse in my casual wardrobe.

Today I have been running around doing post funeral things and had a bit of lunch with DH and MIL. We are all feeling a bit exhausted and I really didn't feel like 'dressing up' as such. So this is possibly as RATE as I get and not overly exciting - it' a bit of a round the house thrown on outfit - but I wanted to show you my sneakers:)

Black Skinny Jeans
Black wide self stripe asymetric top (very old)
Textured/subtle pattern long sleeveless jacket with zip
New Wedge Heel sneaks - I like the white sole of the shoe:)

BTW DH said the sneakers were the ugliest things he had seen in a long time... but I think he is coming around. lol

They remind me of Angie's mini wedge white ones. You can wear them like booties. Nice!

Thanks ladies. I note reserved responses:) That's ok. I know they are actually kind of ugly but for some reason I really like that.

AJ not sure about wearing with skirts for me. It's cute look but I can see it working for me:)

I like that they are simple so that you can stealthily sneak them into your outfits.

I agree with Joy, you can style them like booties..to debomb a tube/pencil skirt, perhaps?

AJ I have straight leg white jeans, but I think I need skinnies! I like that look.

And it was the bootie look of them that particularly attracted med:)

Ooohhh, what do you think about cuffing the straight legs a bit?

AJ I could definitely try it. I have a phobia of 'cuffing' as I worry it will make me look stumpy but Im willing to give it a try

Your casual errand running outfit looks great. Must confess I've never been a fan of this style of sneaker but you do carry it off well - maybe cos they are black?

Although I have been trying NOT to buy any more black footwear, I too have found a thrifted pair of Rivers black booties getting alot of wear at the moment.
Your overall dressy style creates a nice juxtaposition with these more casual 'sneaks'.
I agree that they may not look as good with skirts.

LOL at DH... it takes some getting used to this wedge heel trend. Today I was wearing light colored round sunglasses which I thought I had lost (they were waiting in my summery straw clutch). My DBF did not like them at all. And I think, me pointing out that they were on trend -- in fact a fringe trend in a good way -- didn't change his opinion. This is why we cannot entirely depend on the eye of many men.

Back to your outfit -- it's wonderful seeing you in black and cool weather clothing. You have managed to make wedge sneaks look elegant rather than sporty, which is certainly a fresh approach to this trend.

Denise, so funny. Now when I carry a clutch, DH has to comment! I think he wants me to know heknows they are "on trend" lol. Though sometimes we can be seduced by something because it is on trend and occasionally our men see it for what it is, through different eyes so to speak:)

Confession Deborah - I think we are about the same age and both from the same part of the world. I had the same starting point as you - i.e. no. not for me, but was seduced in the same way.
I ordered a black pair the same as yours and they sent me a camel pair. These were too much for me and too lazy to return I put them on ebay for a fifth of what I paid for them and got not one bid. I ended up giving them to the 15 year old daughter of a friend.
I've had a good laugh at this whole post. PS: I would have worn them in black and I think they do look chic on you.

I really like these, Deborah! and I totally understand DH's response as this trend does need some getting used to.

Archer we have a growing Aussie contingent here:). Such a shame about your sneakers! I also considered the camel, more neutral colour but I'm so glad I got the black, particularly for winter. Any chance of picking up the black on sale?

They look great! I'm a big fan of sneakers, and just bought my 2nd pair of Converse. I think I'll return my boots and buy more sneakers

Whoo hoo!!! I see this as a classy way to do casual Deb! I love the sneaks (hub will come around - and if he doesn't, well he's not wearing them is he? - lol!). I like how they read as booties. Really like the sleeveless jacket too - looks like a great piece.
