Excellent request, Sparky. Our first order (which I imagine will be an ongoing task) is to report on all bootie and ankle boots we have personally tested or otherwise researched.
Thus far, I have tried on the:
Pikolinos Cuba boot - http://www.zappos.com/pikolino.....odPage2a:0
Gabriella Rocha Amber - http://www.zappos.com/gabriell.....odPage2a:0
Tsubo Cusus - http://www.zappos.com/product/.....odPage2a:0
Miz Mooz Women's Tribeca Ankle Boot - http://www.endless.com/dp/B002.....B0020HRCJS
The Pikolinos and GR booties both were just too wide around the ankle for my taste, though I think both would have been ok. I have found that when the opening at the ankle is larger than my calf circumference, the booties really make my legs look like sticks. The Tsubo booties were more fitted than the others, but gaped too much, I should have measured their circumference because I can't find it online anywhere. The Miz Mooz booties didn't fit well enough for my needs, and also had some substantial gaping with a 10" circumference.
Please report back with your field research!
Mae, I think if they are cut pretty low, they are supposed to fit pretty closely. The higher up the booties go, the more they can gape.
Laura, I would imagine that a lot of celebs have skinnier ankles and calves (and everything) than the majority of the population.
