Quest for the perfect black bootie - my first candidate.

You may remember my post on the quest for the perfect black booties on Angie's command:

I went to the store in my lunch break today and tried on 4 pair of black boots and 5 pairs of booties. This pair of Ros Hommerson's Meridian was the most comfortable and I also liked how it looks so it came home with me. I have 2 weeks to return them so I need your help to decide if they are The One for me or not.:-)
What do you think - is my hunt over or I can do better?

Those look really nice on your legs, but I'm not all that fond of the flat heel with dresses. If you could find something cut similar with a small heel, you would have a killer option.

I'm with chewy...a heel would be better with dresses...yay for comfort, though.

Do you know if this Bella-Vita is a good brand - I have never heard of them...
How about those from YLF store - are they worth a try for me as well (in black):

I like the Bella-Vita ones the best for you of these four mentioned here. I can see why you like the ones you bought, but something about them is not quite modern with this look.

I think the one's you purchased need a higher and less square heel. I like the one's Angie mentioned the best. The Clarks, may be too short for dresses. I prefer a bootie with a little height like the Nine West Cleeo or the Bella-Vita Raptor for dresses.

Angie, I'm following Sveta's booty hunt with the intention of probably copying her (we have similar footwear needs). Does the Bella Vita shoe have a low-enough vamp for skirts and dresses? How would it look on me? Do you consider the suede a drawback in our climate?

Uhh.. I am not sure. I am not in love with neither of the choices. I tend to prefer Angie's choice. Then again, none are a 10 for me.

I think it has to do with the fact that for me, booties are hardest type of shoe to get. What work for skirts does not seem to work with skinnies and viceversa. Are these primarily for skirts?
Also, how immediate is the need for this type of shoe. I'm asking because how it happens to me is that at the beginning of a new season, is that I am not quite sure what I need or want. So what works for me is that I start paying attention to what I wish I had, as I try to get dressed every morning. I usually catch myself thinking.. "ahh I wish I had this or I wish I had that". That's the stuff I go buy.

I'm following this thread with interest in also trying to find just the right booties. For Michelle, the Bella Vitas are regular black leather with a black suede "cuff" at the top that contrasts in texture. I think it would also give the feeling of a lower vamp when worn with black tights or leggings because the cuff falls over the top of the actual vamp, if that makes sense. The heel looks more stable than the Clarks Indigo or Nine West.

You are after quite a chunky style with a heel for your leg and foot shape. Hope that makes sense.

Angie/Sveta, this brand/style is not available on the Canada.Zappos site! How obnoxious is that? This is a classic example of a U.S.-based retailer that waters down its selection north of the border.

If you're looking for a chunky slouchy style with a heel, have you looked at Blowfish? I have the Wheaton in sand and they are comfy and fairly cheap.....

Michelle, I know, Zappos Canada is quite limited and returns are not free but at least they have some selection to ship to us. I have tried to order Clarks booties from Endless yesterday for US shipping address and could not do it because they require even billing address to be in the US!:-(
I have ordered Raptor booties last night from Zappos - that was the last pair in my size. I will pick Raptor booties in a month when I go to Boston on vacation and we will see then....
Angie, I understand what you mean about chunky style with a heel and why Raptor can be a good model for me. What I am struggling with is how to identify others which do not look like the Raptors but still may work. I thought that Clarks Nottinghill should work too as they are chunky and with the heel - but do they? Maybe it would be a good topic for a blog post to show different styles of booties which look good on different leg types with skirts. I know a lot of us struggle with the bootie problem here, not just me...:0
