Quest for the perfect black bootie - what do you think?

Taking Angie's advice to heart I am relentlessly looking for black booties. I am not having much success though: I guess my criteria are too high: I need size 12 and heel 2" or under. They need to be comfortable for walking. I also want to wear them with both skinnies and dresses. To be able to do this with my thick ankles and stumpy calves I need them either to be cut below the ankle or to be quite slouchy over the ankle. Believe me, I look awful in ankle length boots which are snug around my ankles: it looks like my ankles are being suffocated!

Does anybody know how comfortable these boots are or how they fit?
I am also going to try booties with a2.5" heel in the store to see if it is acceptable to me. It looks like there is much more selection if I am willing to go 0.5 up...

It's sad really--the Fidjis just blow all of the competition out of the water! Second place is a toss-up (though I really don't care for the Bella Vita Perry); you might need to try a bunch on and see what works, what's comfortable, etc. I like the Munro booties Jenava linked to, at nordstrom.com. Alas, my size is not in stock for black Fidji boots online...Actually, this is the only size which is not in stock for them. They still have red ones in my size but Angie said black...
Is there a way to get a notification from Nordstrom if they come back in stock?

Sveta, I may have to become your booty twin if you find the right pair. Our criteria are identical, and I too wear a hard-to-find size (though mostly because my foot is quite wide). I'll be watching this with great interest!

Sveta, since I work at Nordies now, I can check our internal system and see if any stores have the Fidji boots in size 43. I can do that today if you're interested. We can then always order them through the store and they will ship to you. I believe shipping to Canada is $30 but I would have to double check.

But if you ship to a US address, it would be free! (I think...) (Not sure how phone orders work yet, heh).

Marianne, thanks, I would appreciate that very much. Actually I am going to Boston and Philadelphia in a month and can pick them up then or ship them to Anne (Sparky) who graciously lended me her address for shipping. That's why it is a timing factor for me now!:-)

Chiming in late ~ Sveta, those Fidji boots best meet your criteria and I bet would look awesome on you if they fit. Of course, go ahead and use my address to order them if Marianna finds them in stock and I'll add them to the pile in the dining room.

I was also going to suggest the Munro booties that Jenava suggested. They meet your criteria and come in a million different sizes and widths. I tried them on during NAS and loved the fit ~ soooo comfortable. I didn't keep them only b/c I am still not used to the wide gaping at the ankles. It's clearly the way they are supposed to fit but I am just not there yet with my style. I think they could look great on you though, so keep them in mind.

Sveta, bad news. I checked inventory/on order and there aren't any re-orders of this boot...there is one in stock at the web warehouse but it is listed at not sellable. )-: So sad. I'm sure Marianna will find the same thing...but fingers crossed that someone will return a pair! Or, maybe Marianna can check with the warehouse and find out why it's not sellable...

Jenava is right -- no size 43 in black. I put Sveta on a wait-list though, just in case they are reordered or someone returns one. I will get a notification if it becomes available.

There is ONE size 43 in red though.

Sveta, there is a warehouse in Danvers, MA ( not too far from Boston )that carries a lot of Fidji.

The family that owns the company is very nice. You could try emailing them to find out if they could get you a pair. I know that they take returns. They once found a pair for me and offered to let me try them on in the warehouse before commiting. I ended up finding them somewhere else, but the owner was so incredibly helpful and nice !
