Even more than dresses, skirts are turning out to be my big go-to’s this summer. Printed skirts with solid tops, especially. So I have added a couple of black and white solid tops to my collection, as I know they will be workhorses.

Today I’m full-out Anthro: Maeve skirt and vest/top. I actually bought this top two months ago, before I left on a month-long trip, and almost forgot about it. So today is the first wear. I’m wearing the same shoes, bag, and bracelet as yesterday. I’ll be doing some walking, so I wanted flat comfy shoes that aren’t too casual. The big Jenny Bird earrings bring a little brightness and shine up near my face, to balance out the black top.

I’m taking along the denim jacket in case it gets cool. And look what I noticed in my closet — how fun will it be to wear that blue leather jacket and carry the cognac bag in the fall? (I wish I lived in a climate where I could wear that jacket more!)

Going to work at the studio and then meeting dear friends for cocktails and dinner. These are my three closest friends since grade school: one is battling cancer that has spread to her brain, one is a widower and dad of four who has recently found love again in a surprising way (he has a boyfriend and we could not be happier for him!), and one is an overworked surgeon who wishes she could retire. So we all have hectic lives and it’s hard to get us all together with schedules and distances, since we all live about 1.5 hours away from each other. We made a promise at Christmastime that we would prioritize getting together more, and we are keeping our promise. Friends are so important!

Also, this weekend marks my husband’s and my 16th wedding anniversary! The actual date is today, but we are not strict about adhering to that date to celebrate. So we have plans for a fun Saturday night and Sunday.

Hope you all have a great weekend!
