Skinnies at the Gap - YouLookFab Forum

I tried both these pairs about 3 weeks ago and loved the way they fit. I tried them on again to see if I love them. I think I'm sold on the basic black Ultra Skinny Pants (I love the 2-way stretch cotton), but I don't think I'd be wearing the khaki skimmers often (despite the beautiful colour).

I tried many pairs of skinny dress pants: Banana Republic's Sloan, J. Crew's Minnie's, Reitman's comfort ponte, to name a few. It was a toss up between these Gap Ultra Skinnies and a black pair from an independent boutique. I think these pants are winning due to the price and fabric content (95% cotton. The other pair is all synthetic).

I'm wondering if these will still be available next month when I actually have the budget for it.

Thoughts? Do you see any fit issues?

I just picked up a pair of the Always Skinny coated skimmers and love them. I have six pairs of Always Skinnies now since I love them so much.

I am not as enamoured of the legging styles, they don't seem to fit me as well.

The purple looks nice on you!

Would the Ultra Skinny be considered a leggings style?

I tried the skinnies once and sadly I was between two sizes again (a 6 and an 8... The story of my life). I experienced a lot of bum sagging on the skinnies though I wonder: did the skinnies you get have 2 way stretch? Maybe that's the key for me.

I am not familiar with the Ultra Skinny style -- from what I see on the website they might be between the legging and always skinny styles.

Yeah that's what I gathered. For some reason, skinnies of most brands don't fit me like a skinny. The ultra skinnies look more like skinnies to me.

I wish I can integrate the purple pants in the wardrobe. I'm sure I could because it is within my colour palette, but knowing me, I'd still prefer to go neutral in the bottom. Who knows? I might find a way!

I bought the Ultra Skinny last month as a replacement for my BR Martins, which I like the look of but hate the synthetic fabric. So I was happy to find the Gap pants were cotton! I think they are actually the same cut more or less as the always skinny but are a slightly more cropped length (I don't mind though as they are quite fitted at the ankle).

Yeah, that's the beauty of Gap pants, Diana! The cotton fabric! Sometimes synthetics just feel way too hot!

I should probably check out the longer always skinnies again. If they are very similar in fit, then they may just work for me too!

EDIT: I just went through part of the thread you sent about the gap skinnies! Thanks so much! I'll be reading the treat of the thread in a moment. They look fab on you, btw!

Also I'm likely getting the size I got (8). I tried on a 10 and they looked a bit loose. The 8's were comfy and fit me very well with no saggage (as seen in my photo). Did the pants stretch a lot while you wore them? Debating now whether I should try a 6.
