Sorry for flooding the forum. In the midst of a process right now.

My first purchase in my wardrobe refresher: pleated joggers from the Uniqlo U collection. Not sure if this is a K/R, because now I see the pictures I’m pretty satisfied these will work. The fabric is lush and I love the oversized proportion. I sized up here, not entirely sure what I wanted to do with them initially, but the idea was already forming. Keep it slim and structured up top, emphasize the shoulders, go to town with volume on the lower half.

This brings me to my collection of trophy jackets, most of which still sort of fit, in a manner of speaking. As we’ve already established, here on YLF, a gentlewoman rarely buttons her blazer, which is just as well. These two are still very much roadworthy, and miraculously still fasten. Well, potentially.

I plan to wear them layered with quilted jackets and vests, over and under. I have a couple of these and am wondering whether I need another. Also, everything has to play nicely with the Scarpa walking sneakers. You will be seeing a lot more of these shoes.

Behold my grainy selfies, hiding behind a leader cribbed from the Internet. If you can’t see them, it probably means I haven’t managed to get them off the phone yet…

1. Here is where it all begins, at Christopher Robin on Carnaby street. What’s the magic word? BOWIE!

2. The raw materials, so you can see how they drape. Not sure my pics capture the volume. I think the size works pretty well right now, but they might look peculiar as and when I lose weight.

3. Styled with my Ann Demeulemeester silk velvet blazer. Best thing in the closet by a country mile. Every wardrobe should have something like this. Just look at my body language when I put it on.

4. Under a quilted vest. Execution needs work, pics don’t capture the proportion, but this is how I want to wear it this winter. Thinking of moving a button to fasten it just above the bust line. It would work as well. That’s how good the tailoring is.

5. Stretch pagoda shoulder blazer by Drykorn, which mysteriously fits better after the weight gain. This picture best captures my intent with the silhouette.

6-7. Styled with a lighter quilted vest in navy. With a twist, so you can see how much volume there is in these pants.

8-9 Bonus WIW - two staples from the lockdown wardrobe. Sweatshirt and joggers from last summer’s +J collection. Paragons of indoor/outdoor dressing, perfect for the transitional season. Worn today with a Uniqlo raincoat and my favorite shopper. Are you noticing a theme here?

All thoughts are welcome, as ever. And I have a few questions:

Do the blazers feel too dressy for a daily indoor/outdoor capsule? The object of the exercise is to up the ante a bit, and if the weather weren’t so grim, I would probably have gone out like this. Still, feeling like I should maybe save these looks for longer walks and weekend excursions, at least to begin with.

I’m considering another pair of these pants in green, to wear with black leather. Should I size down in anticipation of weight loss, or stick with the gigantic formula?

Can I justify another quilted vest? I waited a while for this one to come along, and now it seems another has arrived. With +J, of course. (10)
