Shy toes - would that bother you?

I picked up these flats at the Rack:

However, my toes don't really show in the little peep area. This wouldn't bother me at all if the front were closed, but it makes me wonder if I look amputated with slit in front.

Thoughts?

Angie told me this is a poison eye for her but I kept a pair of amazing shoes with this issue anyway.

Well...the whole purpose of having the peep area is to show the toes, so if the toes aren't showing, I guess I would think it was a little strange looking. I suppose you can't try a size down if you got them at the Rack? (I see that the reviews on Zappos say to order half a size down.)

If your toes don't show in a peep toe - it's bad fit. It means that the shoe is too narrow for your toes. To my eye it's a bad look when your toes don't show through the peep-area.

These shoes are a little too long for my short square fat feet. Peep toes never work for me.

Yeah I have very short and I must say very ugly toes. The fact that I have lost 5 toenails to toenail fungus doesn't help. So I'm always on the lookout for aerated shoes that don't show my putrid pods.

Angie, I really don't think these can be too narrow? I don't know whose toes could actually show here. See pics. For my toes to show it might actually hurt. And these fit like they are supposed to fit.

Sorry about your toenails, IK. That's horrid.

Your feet look awfully snug in those shoes. Look at how the width of your foot overextends on the sides.

Btw, I know those exact shoes. They DO run very narrow in front. It's not a great fit on anyone actually.

Angie, they may look snug but they actually feel really good - the leather is soft and snug, not painful at all. Also, after a long hot summer, they will likely stretch.

Yeah, I can see these not being a good fit, but for a summer in Austin I'm tipping maybe a cheapo pair of sandals isn't the worst.

Hm, yes it does look a bit amputated to me. Or like the shoe is a size and a half too big. I vote to keep looking.

They definitely look awkward and made wrong... A woman's foot naturally is wider in the toe are with thinner heels, in most cases, but shoe manufacturers fail to take that into consideration quite often. I love the idea of these shoes and hope you find a suitable replacement.

It looks like the "peep" was added as an afterthought, and not actually taking to account that they are unreachable by most toes. It's more like a hole in the toe area when nothing peeps out. I'd find another modest peep that at least will allow a glimpse of your polish.

I had to click on this link to see what you meant by "shy toes".

I agree with Angie and others. If they're peep toe shoes and your toes don't peep, something's not right.

The description says they run large but since you say these fit, you can't really size down. Sorry, these do have weird proportions.

First off, I love the shoe. I've considered it myself.

Second, it looks like the shoe is just too long for your foot. Maybe the width is ok, but your feet look like they are 1/2 to 1 inch shorter than the shoe.

BTW, my big toe is 1 1/2 inches long.

It's a shame, because I like the shoes and I'm all for comfort, but it does look like an off fit with your toes not showing. Feet (and all body parts) come in such an array of shapes, I'm sure your feet would look lovely in another pair of peep-toes with just a hint of toe showing, but I'm sorry to say I agree with Angie & the others, these look like a poor fit. Your feet deserve better!

Those are great looking shoes, but it does seem as if they don't fit properly and even as if they're just plain made wrong. It's not your feet. It's the shoe.

For some reason I find the marriage of D'Orsay with squarish peep-toe kind of...unnatural.
But, I hear you on ventilated, toe-covering shoes--kind of an oxymoron which is why the unnatural may be the solution. I like toe coverage also.
But what about the fisherman woven type sandal with a covered forefoot? Too retro? Or other mesh, or perforated styles--lot of them out right now.

I find it can be challenging to find the right toe to peep ratio in this style of shoe - the visual balance has to be just right for me to like seeing my toes!

I cannot imagine what a foot would look like to fit that particular shoe.

I have very short, stubby toes so most peep toes do not work on my foot. I totally understand what you are dealing with.

Peep toe shoes that don't show a peeping toe look odd to me. Keep looking. There are lots of great shoes out there that will work for you.

I absolutely love the shoe but I agree the fit is not good. It does look odd. I have this problem a lot too. I have quite small feet and I guess they are not long enough for some shoes. I would try and find something else:(

I think I've seen d'orsays like that with toe camouflage - but I can't for the life of me remember where. I do get that soft leather is very comfortable despite it looking snug on the foot. I also know how hard it is to find comfy shoes. Wear them till you find a suitable replacement. xo

The few times I've gone for peep-toe anything, my toes have shown a little, but it's not a poison-eye issue for me in and of itself. then again, I've got short toes and the ball of my foot is wide--pretty duck-footed. My toes almost never show through peep-toes.

The shoe OTHER than that peep toe part sure looks nice, and I can see why it would attract you IK. But I regretfully vote with Angie, not seeing the foot through the opening near the toe makes it look odd. Sorry!
