I was already dressed when I saw Angie's post this morning about dainty jewelry, so I thought I'd show what I'm wearing today and invite others to do the same. (I'm at home dissertating all day, hence the pigtails.) This combo is an old favorite - the necklace is a small sterling silver flower with a lapiz center which I often pair with these tiny little "ivory" skulls that I dangle from a pair of silver hoop earrings.

Fun! MuseumGal, I looove your skull earrings. They are subtle but so cool!

My dainty-jewellery-desk-selfie shows the pearl drop earrings and a small heart shaped pendant I am wearing today. This is pretty typical accessorizing for me. Both are gifts from DH, in fact he gave me the pendant the first Christmas we dated.

This photo is from six months ago, when I first got my engagement-ring-turned-dainty-pendant. Sorry it's a little blurry! I've been wearing it almost daily and I really really like it!

I've also been wearing my pearl studs a lot recently, in honor of our friend Jen's dear late daughter Mardi. I think they go nicely with the pendant. Not too matchy.

Why not! Some of my favorites: pic 1 is my small diamond pendant, pic 2 my wedding earrings, pic 3 is my mother's baby necklace (that my daughter will get as soon as she's old enough) and pic 4 my beloved bitten apple. Lovely pieces, you guys!

I think almost all of my jewelry qualifies as dainty except for a few heavy rings. I have a small face, glasses, and pierced ears, so I feel like too much big jewelry is just too much. Plus I have a LOT of jewelry collected over the years... mostly from etsy. Unfortunately (here I go whining again) it's actually too hot in Austin to wear jewelry most of the year! I actually get a rash on my neck from where I sweat against chains. So most of my pretty things are in storage, where I can paw them like Smaug and let no one else touch them.

[Shhh...pretend I didn't post here...I'm not allowed 'cause I really don't wear dainty much. But in response to IK, I have the same combo--small face, glasses, and pierced ears. If I were to characterize the size of items I wear, I'd say they were medium. Big is too big, but dainty is too invisible for me. Medium is juuuust right. (For me, I hasten to add. To each her own, but of course!)]

I have a lot of dainty jewelry, mostly cheap stuff I bought myself as a teen. I'm not really wearing jewelry regularly at the moment, but below are the two dainty pieces I wear the most. I'm not showing my earrings - I either wear tiny silver studs or slightly bigger pearl studs.

I think all of my jewellery is delicate and the pieces I love definately are. Even the pieces I considered "statement" are delicate, thank you Angie. Below are a few of the pieces I got on our trip to Ireland last summer. I have always loved the claddagh and trinity knot so it was the perfect time to pick up a few pieces.

Edit...how do you photograph shiny jewellery? I find the details show up when really tarnished.

I have a half dozen dainty necklaces. I never wear them because I can't be bothered and dainty doesn't go with my frame. I haven't had a chance to read Angie's post but for the occasion I wore two of my dainty necklaces. The CZ one was purchased from QVC ages ago. The key and locket was a gift from a patient.

Since my skin responds so poorly to costume jewelry, most of my jewelry is dainty because it has to be gold or platinum. Here are a few pieces, although I am still looking for a picture of my favourite necklace that I wear almost daily...

The second necklace here is what I wear representing my three children. I couldn't find any traditional jewelry that I liked, so each of the three stones represents a child, and it is on a 30" chain.

Fun to see so much lovely, dainty jewelry! I'm often a fan of the statement necklace but whenever I'm not wearing one, I'm wearing this dainty necklace with three hearts on it. It was a gift from my grandfather more than twenty years ago and the chain has been repaired at least twice.

Most of my necklaces are chunkier (largish links), but here is one that definitely qualifies as dainty, and one that might be only sort of dainty, but is so cool, I had to share it. #2 is the top of the necklace, #3 is the inside two pieces from the front (pictures of my girls when they were little), and #4 is the back.

Great thread MG.

Here are a couple of pieces from my collection.

I converted the rose gold moon and stars earrings to pierced.

The locket is 3/4" and has beautiful floral etching that you can't see with the glare.

The lavalieres are from the 20s/ 30s.
