Hi Fabbers,

I like to co-ordinate what I wear with my nails, especially when I need inspiration for an outfit.
Yesterday I wore this Opal ring that used to be my Grandmother's.
I realised that the lovely blue and pink flashes were reflected in my nail colour, and also in the patterned shirt I wore.

Over to you- can I see your nails and hear your stories too?

That's a lovely ring (I love opals!), and what serendipity, of it all matching even when you weren't consciously putting it all together at the moment.

I don't have photos of my nails to show, but they're not painted, so it would be kind of boring as a photo, anyway.

Is the nail on your ring finger blue, while the others are pink? How fun that you have inspiration at your fingertips!

Gorgeous ring on you and how lovely that it has family history!

I'm pretty hard on my nails so they're generally very RATE. I find self-manicures so horridly boring...worse than flossing.

When they do get polish I'm generally doing a pale pink similar to your 9. Shows the chips less!

I love that you're wearing your Grandmother's opal. Pretty nails!
Just for fun I had Shrek toenails during our last stint of hot days. They were lime green. It's cooled off again this week so the toes have gone back into hibernation.
BTW, I loved your olive green outfit from a few days ago. You will wear that top a lot this summer, for sure.

I love bright polish on toe nails too.
The greyish top is from Katies, not their usual bright prints for sure.

I'm afraid my nails are naked and dry and flaky at the moment .
Yours look lovely though. The ring is gorgeous, such lovely colours.

Love the ring! I have a similar one from my grandmother.
Another of the unmanicured set here. The whole "I play guitar--no length at all" is always met with "but you don't want ugly nails!" ...so I tend to just skip it.

Well, mine are boring but always "done". Finger nails are always neutral. Toe nails are always colored, although I tend to stick with reds, pinks and oranges. My husband would have thought I had lost my mind taking this pic this morning...good thing he's already left for work!

Carter, you have pretty nails and I know what you mean about hubbies thinking we're nuts to take some of these photos. LOL

Here's my 10 day old shellac in Pop Cake. It's starting to get a little ratty but I'm scheduled for an appointment on Wednesday. I'll probably go for Rose Bud this time. I almost always go with pinks (toes and fingers) but once I went with a Taupe and my husband really didn't like it all.

I stopped getting manicures because the polish chips off of my nails in a day or two so they looked unkempt more often than not.

I was in the mall the other day and got caught at one of those booths they have in the center of the aisles. The pitch was for a nail kit that included a rectangular buffing block, cuticle oil, and a rich moisturizer. The buffing block had three colors. One took off the ridges, the next smoothed, and the third polished. It was amazing how shiny and pretty my plain nails looked after 10 seconds of buffing. I ended up buying two - one for me and one for a friend. My nails are still shiny three or four days later and NO chemicals. woo hoo.

FB- I know some Guitar players keep some nails short and some long for picking.
Carter- your hands and toes are lovely.
RWD- I always do my own nails, but admire the way the prof. jobs last so long.
Dianthus- those polishing emery boards are great, I sometimes use mine for the lovely smooth effect and subtle shine they produce.

I love your opal ring and that is a lovely shade. I have a small bathroom shelf full of nail colors and no time for painting. Maybe this weekend I'll try to do my toes

I can't keep a mani either. I'm on the computer all day, and years of playing piano have turned me into a *key striker*, not a key stroker. I can kill a shellac in less than a week!

So, I do my nails at home, the problem is that I rarely have time to play beauty shop, so I have to do my nails in phases. This morning, I got on my base coat of color before work, which is like one step up from a chipped manicure in my book. Tonight I'll add a 2nd coat, and either a high gloss top coat, or glitter. Glitter polish saves me on a weekly basis, since when you go to touch up the chippy area, you can't tell where it was patched.

Maybe I'll have a photo later!

Your nails look lovely Lyn, and the ring is so beautiful. I love wearing thing that have such sentimental value. I am wearing my grandmother's eternity ring as my wedding ring at the moment (my own rings need altering). As for nails, almost always red and sometimes black cherry:)

I'm always so impressed when people are able to keep their nails looking nice. I don't paint mine because it never seems to last more that two days. So mine are naked!

Ave. I find a top coat to be a great polish lengthener, especially if you remember to do another coat after a few days.

Very pretty! I aim for a polished look overall, so you'd think I'd be great at keeping my nails done, right? No, I'm the worst! It's just one of those tasks that I dread doing. The worst is waiting for my nails to completely dry. On the rare occasion that I wear polish, I love how it looks and always vow to start doing my nails weekly ... but this leopard hasn't changed her spots.

Your nails are really eye-catching! I don't paint my nails because I don't like the chemical smell and am usually too busy. Oh well, at least they're clean! (:

I looove polish, my nails are usually polished up! Here's my current mani: gray with teal/holo glitters and a soft matte top coat; accent nails use a made-by-me glitter topper.

For those who don't like to wait for drying AND who want their polish to last longer, I HIGHLY suggest using the top coat "Seche Vite" (you can get it at Target). It'll dramatically improve the quality of your manicures!

Lyn, your mani and ring are both pretty! I like how the mani picks up on some of the opals colors but not all; you've really got plenty of lovely shades to choose from with an opal as your inspiration!

Lyn yes I do my own nails, using quick dry products and it takes very little time:). I generally do them twice a week:). I want to try your idea of a different colour on the ring finger:)
