Short Hair On Me Again?

So, my hair is finally long enough to pull back.

I was inspired to let it grow a bit by Jean (Greenglove.) Her hair is so individual and "her."

Sometimes I've been wearing it sort of like Andie McDowell, in these pics - pulled back softly. She's around my age (a tad younger) and I think she gets away with it. I'm enjoying my hair like this - It feels very feminine and romantic - but I worry that it's not "stylish" enough.

#3 - I've also had a curly bob in the past, and liked it (old picture, 3 years ago, trying on glasses.)

#4 - This is my hair today.

I've got an appointment next week for color, and have to decide what to do!

I think your hair looks very pretty longer. I'd keep it long. #4 is beautiful!

I think that A Line bob would be wondeful on you! I think it would be very stylish and modern(and easy to take care of). With your hair texture I think its better choice than your current cut which seem a little "bulky"..? I think long piece in the front would be more flattering for your face shape as well. I hope that I'm not offending you by making recommendation as I'm "I don't beat around the bush" kind of person...
P.S. I have very wavy hair myself and that's the style I had before cutting my hair into pixie.

I think that curly hair like yours looks better longer. The length gives you options to wear it in ways that look "stylish".
Curly hair is hard to style, it does not do the kind of things that choppy, short hair can do in terms of heightening style IMO
Which is why I think length makes a more dramatic statement and why I keep mine longer.
I also think that your style of dress would be a cool contrast to the romance of the curls. A kind of geometry with your modern, urban look against the organic quality of the curl.

You could wear it up in interesting ways. I would grow it out. I think short curly hair is much more conservative and requires lots of maintenance.
By the way- you have gorgeous hair and look like Andie McDowell.

Your current hair looks great! I have thick wavy hair and found a short bob very hard to maintain - lots of frizz, too much volume where there shouldn't be, etc. I vote for keeping your hair long.

As someone with poker straight hair, I am sooooooo jealous of your beautiful curls. I think your hair is beautiful and FWIW, i say leave it longer to show its true gorgeousness!

I think your current cut (#4) is very pretty with your face shape and features!

Looks like you have some graduated layers, yes?

If so, I'd keep (experimenting with length if desired). Now that my hair is back to ~ shoulder length, I think it looks best when the front pieces fall more or less between mouth and jaw to do that face-framing thing...otherwise I feel I have too much bulk.

[Mileage may vary etc!]

As a coarse/thick wavy-hair, I found I liked my short cut best when the front-most pieces were cheekbone length with the remainder graduating in length to (my square!) jaw. Might be something to discuss with your stylist if you end up talking about going shorter.

My curly locks play nicer when they are long or super short.

Definitely looks better longer, IMO, it frames your face better than the bob which broadens you across the jaw line. If you can keep it longer but not thicker it would give you more options for creating different looks.

I vote for longer as well. It's amazing what an inch or so can do to the *flavor* (for lack of a better word) of your style--anyone's style. I'm in that weird grown-out bob stage and I feel like a chin-length bob has either a *cute* or *chic* element to it. A bit longer and it somehow starts to feel androgynous (on me) and then finally when long enough, with curls, it can look very feminine and romantic--well that's before I went grey. Now I might just look homeless if I let it get too long!

Anyway, I don't know if I made any sense at all. I just wanted to say that I like the *flavor* that your length now gives to your style, and if you want to let it keep growing you could experiment to see if longer would be even better--IDK.

I love your current hair Tarzy, and everything Jean said was just wonderful. Pretty much everything she said I feel strongly about, as a fellow curly.

I reiterate, curly hair doesn't generally have the same style pay-off in a short bob or pixie cut that straight hair can.

Well, it can be done but you'd need someone very knowledgeable and talented with curly hair to achieve something special and let's face it, finding them would be a whole journey in itself.

You can do a lot with different partings, updos with pins etc, to make curly hair look stylish. I agree that your clothing style contrasts nicely with the romance of curly hair. And you look amazing with a side part.

Looking sharp with curls is also achieved by balancing the soft look of the hair with attention to other details, i.e. having immaculate brows etc which you are already doing.
