Shopping for Jeans ETA Update

I am determined to buy jeans. I am in the big city of Hamilton/Burlington and I am not going home until I have a new pair of jeans.
I went to Artiza and tried on the Citizens of Humanity Dree that Suz posted about. They are 100% cotton. I was not happy about how they looked on me.
I then went to my favourite store and tried on every pair of jeans that was not a skinny. They have great customer service. I wanted higher rise and I was okay was some distressing.

The Mother jeans were everyone's favourite in the store. They are really comfortable and fit me in the waist.

The AGs were comfy but lower rise and too much like my Fidelity AXLs which are still going strong.

The Frame were out voted because I was told they made my bum look big. Also, they were calf sucking tight. And the waist was huge.

So the Mothers and the belt came to the hotel with me. Obviously, I am still firmly on Team Distressed.

ETA. Exchanged the Jeans

Woke up and went to my appointments. Gave some serious thought to my jeans. Decided to exchange the Mother jeans for the Frame jeans. I am not sure that really distressed jeans are the look I am going for these days. I wish the Mother jeans were less distressed but they are not.

Style Fan, you have a GORGEOUS figure.

Narrowing the waist is a VERY easy alteration. I bought four pairs of jeans this year, and they were ALL altered at the waist because the rises are high and I have a sway back. Now they fit perfectly.

All these jeans look like they fit fabulously in the pics.

LOL Angie! Hamilton/Burlington is the Steel Capital. Or was. The air is much better these days. Maybe I should go back and exchange the Mother for the Frame ones. The Frame ones are very heavy denim though. Thanks for the compliment about my figure.

Agree the AGL look lower rise than you like. The rest look good to me, although it’s annoying if calf is too tight. Glad you found a pair you like. I am perfectly fine with distressing.

Thanks delurked. Finding jeans that fit and that I like has been a challenge. I am almost wondering about going back and getting the Frame jeans as well.

I'm glad you found what you want and what you like! That's no easy feat. I'm not great on assessing fit from photos, but they do look good to me, and I think the "bum looking big" comment was all relative....to the fact that you don't have a big bum, period. The boutique here that sells premium denim is all about Mother too, but they DO NOT fit me at all. Apparently the hockey wives all like it

I LOVE Mother jeans and have several pairs. I'm wearing a pair of The Lookers as I type this. Very soft, comfortable, they give in a good way with wear but don't bag out. The waist in Mother's always fits me as well.... because of my waist to hip proportion sometimes waists can be too tight. Bum looks good to me in pic #1....nice pocket placement and good proportion.

Lisa, I was in a panic about jeans. I have been trying jeans on in Florida and at home for 3 months. Nothing. Finally, something works. You are right that it is not an easy feat.
Marilyn, thanks for the endorsement of Mother jeans. This is my first pair. They are very soft and comfy.

You do look super fab in the Mother jeans, Style Fan. Don't second-guess yourself; once they feel and look that good, you've found a winner. Now, that said, I agree with others who say the Frame jeans look great on you, too. Super back view, in my opinion. But comfort is so important, and if they are too tight in the calves, I know that feeling isn't good.
I'm with Marilyn--a big Mother fan myself. I have a few pairs of the Looker style, and a couple of Insider cropped flares. I don't know if the Sinner is a style they make in different washes, but if so, you now know your style and size and can keep an eye out for them if you want other colors, lengths, etc.

I am reliably informed by the DD that amongst teenager girls these days the larger posterior is extremely desirable so whilst I do not think you have a large bottom at all I wouldn’t worry if the jeans show cased your bottom as that s obviously very in at the moment.I think that these jeans fit you great and show off your great figure,well done for finding them.

I liked Frame the best because I thought your butt looked the best! I agree with Angie... what are they smoking in Burlington? But the Mothers are nice... I think the AGL kind of flattens your butt, so those are my least favorite.

Cardiff Girl has the right of it - junk in the trunk is desirable these days and sends many a flat fanny to the gym! All cheekiness aside, you have a trim figure and look great in your jeans. Glad you found some jeans that work for you. On to having fun styling them!

I have 3 pairs of Mother jeans and love them - the quality is so good. My goodness, you look great in all of these... I hope you enjoy your new jeans, they look beautiful on you (but I thought the other pairs looked good too).

Thank you everyone!!! I went back to the store last night and tried on the Frame jeans again. The SA clarified that the size in the pic (28) looked good but the size up (29) had bigger pockets and did not fit well. I had hoped by going up a size the calf part would be bigger. No. Sigh. The waist was huge though. She has set the Frame aside for me and I may go and get them later today.

Sal, it is a relief to finally get some jeans! They are a major part of my style.
Good advice, Firecracker. I may go back and try on some other style of the Mother jeans. I would like a plainer pair.

I think they all look good on you! I have a pretty awful time with jeans shopping, especially trying to find anything other than high-waisted cropped skinnies right now! So I say yay to finding jeans you feel great in.

Seriously, an alteration at the waist on a pair of jeans is $6-$8 by me. Totally worth it to make the perfect pair.

Janet, jeans are right up there with swimsuits. I love jeans so much but they are torture to shop for. Skinnies are everywhere. Not what I am looking for.
Thistle, you are right about the waist alteration. I have always had that issue. The size up in the Frames was huge in the waist. I wanted more room in the calves which didn't happen. No point going up a size.

Now after all that I went back and exchanged the Mother jeans for the Frame jeans.

Now that you know what size you wear in Mother you can order online.
Lots of styles and washes to choose from. Since they are made in the US you don't pay duty. I read lots of reviews if I'm ordering from the US. You can also order Mother from https://www.rainbowjeans.com/ in Toronto. They have great customer service. My size was sold out in the size I needed and the buyer brought in a pair for me. https://www.aritzia.com/ also sometimes has Mother online.

I really liked those distressed Mother jeans!! Maybe you can re-buy them at some point The calf and butt fit are ideal, and the distressing is interesting. I really like the wash too.

I see so many of you raving about Mother, I'm always tempted to try them. I don't think I've ever seen them in store (at least not in a size near my own), and they're pricey, so I've always balked at ordering them (because, you know, I'd probably have to try three sizes to find out what works!).

Smittie, it was a tough call. I liked the Mother jeans a lot but I was concerned about how "statementy" they were. If I could have bought 2 pairs that would have been perfect. I may still get them.
Janet, I am happy with the Frame jeans. I know what you mean about having to try on 3 sizes. I never know what my size is. It changes with the jeans. Mother jeans are nice.

Well Style Fan I am on record as not liking distressed jeans so I wasn't going to comment. I liked the Frame jeans out of sight better and now you've got those! I think your rear end looks amazing in them though I do wonder what you will do about the tight calf issue and the waist? With my one pair of Not Your Daughter's Jeans I bought some wide elastic which I sewed inside the back waist and that worked.

Jenni, the size of Frame I bought fit fine in the waist. It was the size up that were too big in the waist. The calves loosened up in the store after walking around so that problem got solved. I do have a sugar eye for some things that would leave some people shaking their heads. If we all liked the same things it would be a very boring place.
