I am not sure if I will be able to truly shop my closet as I like to complete my summer shopping in November and maybe buy something again in Feb in end of summer sales.....

I will watch and cheer though!!

I could definitely benefit from playing in my closet and styling items in different ways. I hope to participate in that part of the challenge, AFTER Nov 9 which is when I get back from a mega-intense annual work trip.

I am not going to commit to not buying anything however. I have identified some wardrobe holes recently and have been slow about filling them. My mostly-secondhand shopping strategy doesn't lend itself very well to doing "a big shop" during defined periods.

That said, I do have some concern about the constant headspace (and time!) that is taken up by shopping with this strategy. So, I am taking that part of the discussion here to heart, and pondering how I might change things in the medium to longer term.

Thank you for starting this thread, La Ped!

I'm not planning to shop in November so I may join in. I've got 3 new pairs of jeans and could use this challenge as an opportunity to style them for fall/winter weather.

Hmm, I am constantly "shopping" since I thrift as a hobby, but have not bought anything at a retail store in a while. But the idea of shopping my closet, regardless of new purchases, always gets my attention!

Count me in! I need a hiatus after buying all those interview appropriate clothes, then getting offered a job at Old Navy and thinking I'd get to wear cute things, then accepting a job at a grocery store and having to buy a bunch of black stuff to wear while I'm at work.

Side note: all black outfits will never NOT be "show blacks", the term we used to describe the dress code for working shows as a stagehand. Ugh.

So yeah, I will try shopping my closet for a month. Looking forward to seeing what everyone comes up with

I'm in - my recent closet edit made me realise I have a well stocked wardrobe and don't need to buy additional items. I have done the bulk of my spring / summer seasonal refresh already, so putting the brakes on spending and 'just looking' which can be dangerous seems like a great way to go.

For me, I love the dresses in my closet and don't need more, so my focus will be to wear what I have and try to create some new and fresh combinations.

I will cheer you on from the sidelines. I will be shopping from my suitcases (note plural). We are in Montreal starting November 8th for 5 weeks. I have a few things on my shopping list that I might buy if I find them there.

I’m in :). Cutting out the “browsing-as-hobby” is something I’ve been working at too. You didn’t strike me as someone who did that actually La Ped- you always seem so intentional and well planned.
My wardrobe is quite well stocked, so it’ll be a fun challenge to play with what I have.

Hah, I'm glad I seem disciplined! I filter out a lot of stuff that seems not-quite-right but I do tend to latch onto one or two very specific looks each season that I want to recreate or emulate in some way, then get caught up trying to find just the right elements.

For better or worse, I default to online shopping as a way to stay away from social media. Subbing one bad habit for another.

Hmmm...I think I can do it. I so enjoyed Jenn’s challenge. I had never done one before. Okay, I’m in!

I have been combing Angie's blog archives in preparation for this challenge. I am starting from square one and feeling quite overwhelmed, so I am looking at basic stuff like style adjectives and how to create an outfit. It's been my default to just shop for a piece to complete a look, but then I end up blowing my budget and having a closet full of orphans...

Anyway, I found this link helpful https://youlookfab.com/2011/01.....ur-closet/

Over at the blog Unfancy, Caroline recently posted about remixing current wardrobe pieces as a remedy for the shopping bug. Highly relevant, except for the 20% off promo code for the brand she's spotlighting! http://www.un-fancy.com/outfit.....tton-down/

I’ve been”shopping my closet” to figure out which light-colored shoes I could use to scratch the white-boots itch. And I’m finding... I’m really not happy with any of my light colored shoes! (Mostly sneakers and they feel too casual for the look I want to create.). This is a worthwhile thing to learn, and it’s only because I’ve focused on this experiment. So thanks for the inspiration!

Hmmm, tempting. I recently got rid of a bunch of stuff from my closet and I know I need some replacements but am not sure in what direction I want to go. This could help me to determine that and what I actually need.

I'm definitely in--I just bought what I plan on being my last purchases of 2018. I think my personal rule is going to be no shopping unless 1) it's from a thrift store (I'm looking for the perfect vest to punk-ify!), 2) it's a HEWI that's been on my list for years, or 3) I find the right hiking boots, because I need to buy some ASAP to break them in and train for my trips next year. I've been in a throw-on-whatever's-clean slump lately (although I did put together one absolutely killer outfit last week I'm proud of) and I want to be more intentional with my outfit choices, so this sounds like it'll help keep me on track.

OH! You know how I am going to implement this challenge! I'm going to pull out my gorgeous scarfs and practice outfit creation. I'll be combining your challenge with Katerina's challenge.

I’m in, with the exception that I need a pair of black booties (I returned the Rollies). I have three pairs coming today to try, but if none of those work out, the search might extend into November.

Brand new member here. I’m definitely in! I have enough clothes for several people and I don’t think I have any real needs!

I think I can, I think I can, I think I can. When I edited my closets, I kept the items that fit and I really think I will wear, so now is a good time to do a test run. If I run into temptation, I might put an item on a holiday wish list and see if it still a want in early December. Thanks for suggesting the challenge!

I just did a huge closet edit and I have purchased some things I am going to need. Now I just want to wear what I have, I'm all in.

I'm 90% in for this - I do have a couple of items I legitimately need and hoped to take advantage of November sales - winter boots (or pay to have my current ones reburbished as they look terrible) and a (preferably red) parka - but beyond that I've refreshed quite a bit this fall so it would do me good to take a break from shopping and focus on wearing! I'm also including makeup in this challenge for myself as I've gone bit makeup-crazy lately too. Great idea! *runs to mall today to beat the deadline* lol

I'm in the same boat as nemosmom. The recent edit cleaned my closet of some emotional baggage, and I'm figuring out my style direction (feeling a desire to change things up but having trouble articulating the new direction.) In the mean time, I'm quite happy playing with my smallish collection of clothes. So, I'm in - with the proviso that I might shop on the 20th when I have a trip to the Big City. A pair of bootcuts/flares and a plaid blanket scarf are on my shopping list.

TG, LOL @ your dash to the mall. I’m receiving a couple things I ordered just under the wire.

Hi Moonbeam! Welcome.

I had a thought yesterday.

I am going to shop my closet for jewelry and accessories and wear one each day.

It might be as simple as a different ring, but I want to wear my earrings, bracelets and necklaces more. I don't wear many scarves at this time of the year but I have one or two that I like and should try.

I will wear at least one accessory (outside wedding band, shoes, handbag and glasses - I wear all these things everyday)

I just saw this ! I am in !
I have not purchased any new clothing or accessories since the second week in September (ok not totally true I did get a backpack at target that was cool and on clearance for 8.98)
I am discovering how fun it is to see what I already own!
But I am afraid my resistance is wearing down so this is perfect !
Thank you and count me in

Like shevia i thrift as a hobby so i won't be joining you but i will cheer you all on from the sidelines
