Shoe-off: cowgirl vs. biker chick

Both of these shoes arrived this week - the orange Fryes and the black Ejects. The color of the Fryes is so delicious, but I fear my chicken legs do not work with the width of this boot. I kind of look like I'm standing in a bucket.

The Ejects are a perfect fit and I think the ankle strap is actually flattering to my scrawny ankles, but would love your thoughts.

The top half of this ridiculous get-up is camping gear, as we are headed on our first camping weekend tonight. The skirt is to better show the shoes.

Weird, those are ankle straps and they are not shortening.... I'm trying to figure out why they work. They are really cool.

Do vote no on the Frye's. Not all Frye's, I just don't think these Frye's are doing you any justice. You look like you're wearing very expensive rain boots.

Biker Biker! The orange of the Fryes is a lot brighter than I expected and so not working as a virtual nude as I expected. They'd probably look great with skinnies or straight legs, but if your going for a bare-legged spring look here, the Ejects win by a mile! Hawt!

Una, why can't we see your toes in the sandals? Too narrow? Too long? I like the way the rest of the sandal fits, though. Great ankle strap!

Also, I have to keep you on the straight and narrow - so bear with me

- Are sandals really on your shopping list?

I was going to ask about the fit of the sandals too. I have to size down atleast a full size in sandals I've learned this year. Otherwise, I love the sandals, don't love the boots.

I vote no on both. The sandals are cool, but they're too long for your feet.

BTW, Frye Taylors are pretty similar but much narrower at the top (because they zip). Half price in a lovely eggplant on endless, if anyone has size 11 feet.

Another vote for the Ejects!

The fryes are VERY orange, and that combined with the wide ankles is giving off a rain boots vibe like Rita said.

This is sized down to a 5. Ejects seem to run huge! My toes are not showing because there really isn't that much of an opening at the toe, and my feet are wide. But there is not that much space between my toes and the end of the shoe, either. I should take a photo from above.

The Fryes are all packed up to go back. I'm sad, but they just don't work.

This is a common challenge with peep toes and wider feet. I'm afraid they get my nay vote, Una. That's not a small peep-toe opening. The shoes below show a small peep-toe opening. The fit of the Ejects are odd because your toes don't "peep".

Una, I'm not too crazy about either one. The fryes are too much of a color shock to work as a neutral and the sandals are too massive - too much going on between the wide ankle strap, the studs, the wooden platform and the fact they are black. I vote return on both. I think you can do better.

Ok, I'm glad Angie said something, because I started reading the comments before posting and wondered if I was the only one bothered by the lack of toe showing in an open toe shoe. It's a shame because they are very cool.

Wow, that's an issue that's never even occurred to me. I generally don't wear open-toed shoes, and I kind of liked the fact that these don't really have toe exposure. But if they look weird then back they'll have to go. Sounds like not showing toe is a shoe faux-pas of some kind. It's the same reason I don't wear pointy toed shoes or any kind of femme-y pumps.

Sigh. Thanks for letting me know! It's so rare for me to love shoes (as opposed to boots)...

Una I love the Ejects but I see what Angie sees. I oftn encounter the same problem. I have small somewhat wide foot. The shoe does look too long. Im sorry because they are one of the most fab pairs of sandals I have seen.

You know, when I look at the pic of the sandals on endless.com, the gap where your toes are supposed to go is very thin (i.e., it looks like it was designed wrong, so the leather part is barely above the sole and it's just a little toe slit instead of a normal-sized opening), so you would have to have very flat, almost two-dimensional toes.

Jonesy, you are right - the opening is very "low" in height - I'm not sure whose toes would fit through there, even if my foot was narrower. I can't even get my fingers through it.

I saw this at work, but can't log in there, so I came to cast my vote for the Ejects.

Now I see you're discussing the toe space. I noticed that too, but is it a deal breaker? I mean the pic is closer to your toes than any person should ever be. . .
