Well the sisterhood of YLF united and I think I might have my spring/summer shoe wardrobe decisions made.

1. Patterned flats - I'm going to go with these cute orange/animal print Arturo Change leather peep toe flats http://youlookfab.com/welookfa.....ats-for-me

2. Oxfords - thanks to the code that VC provided for me, I'm going to go with the Cole Haan Reflective Grey with black heel http://youlookfab.com/welookfa.....fect-shoes

3. Spring boot - Ceit just let me know that the Canadian Doc Martens website has significantly reduced the price of the paint spattered boots that Angie made me drool over http://youlookfab.com/welookfa.....ady-prince

Spring/summer footwear I have already include my Jeffrey Campbell tri-tone patent oxfords (worn all year long except for very hot weather), taupe peep toe Boutique 9 laceless heeled oxfords, kitten heel pointy toed black Enzo Angiolini pumps with circular cut outs, orange Born flats and gold metallic Enzo Angiolini flats. I have wear a few of my booties and Docs until the real heat sets in and then I switch to sandals, of which I have several pair.

I guess my question to you is: the flats, oxfords and boots I'm looking at purchasing - are they different enough to warrant bringing into my closet and do you see them all working with my style? Just because I WANT and LOVE them all, doesn't necessarily mean I NEED them all or that they will all work for me, you know?

BTW colours I'm looking at wearing in spring and summer include black, navy, grey, white, red and green.

You know I appreciate all of your input, right?

Suz - we can definitely get Anthro delivery in Canada - that's where I got my B44 dress from. And their shipping and returns are pretty decent.

Ok...done some more thinking...I think Una is really on to something with those gorgeous patterned and colourful oxfords. They do indeed fill two roles - patterned footwear and flat oxfords. I could get those instead of the animal print/orange peep toe flats - but in the black and floral pattern. I think the black would work better with my wardrobe - can't you see them with my black clam diggers and black linen pencil skirt?

Although lovely, the perforated oxfords to me are more limited in use - could only be worn during our warmest months otherwise my feet would be chilly.

If i were to get the patterned oxfords from Anthro and the paint spattered Docs, I could actually get both pair for my $200 limit.

Or am I better off going for the better quality of the Cole Haan Skylar oxfords, but only being able to get those? My one concern with the Cole Haan's is I don't see those being a summery shoe and once our heat hits in June, I wouldn't be wearing them. So I'm not sure they fill my "spring/summer" hole properly.

Oh good grief...my head is spinning!

Back again...am I driving you all nuts yet? Sorry to be such a forum hog!

I'm trying to figure out which shoes I will get the most wear out of and take the price out of the equation. I've also decided I can't really worry too much about what I'll wear come our hot summer because I live in sandals and flats in the heat.

So what will be worn more/be more versatile for work and play:

1. Animal print/orange flats
2. Skylar oxfords in reflective grey
3. Doc Martens spatter/white boots
4. Black/floral oxfords

When I put it down like that, the answer becomes much more obvious. But I'm curious if you see what I see.

Shannon, I totally would if I thought I needed them. Trouble is, they really fill the same wardrobe slot as my beloved Doc Saras.

ETA: BUT... this is exactly the kind of super-special piece I hope to pick up during my 12 x 12 year. Normally I wouldn't think I could afford to spend $379 on one pair of shoes, but I've spent a total of $379 lots of times on multiple items, none of which were nearly as special as these beauties. There's a lesson in there, right?

I can't see the Anthropologie links, so I don't know what the black/floral oxfords look like. But I think the animal print flats + Skylar oxfords will get you a very long way and will be extremely versatile for your wardrobe.

Inge - you are the WINNER of "what are the best shoes for Shannon" contest! (sorry there's no actual prize - lol!)

When I wrote it down as to what is the most versatile, the animal print flats and the Skylar oxfords jumped right out at me as the clear winners.

I love the Doc paint spattered boots but I think they are limited in what they can be worn with. If I had a ton of disposable income, I'd probably grab them, but I need to be smart with my budget.

And although the colourful and patterned oxfords Una linked to make me smile, I suspect the quality wouldn't be quite the same as the Skylar oxfords and they may not be quite as versatile.

My budget was $200 but with the code VC gave me for Amazon, the Skylar's are affordable. I have a couple of things selling on consignment right now that should be able to cover the cost of the animal print flats (or close to anyway) so I think we're good.

I cannot thank you ladies enough for your invaluable input and I hope I wasn't too "needy" on the forum today

I think your original idea of the grey Cole Haans and the animal print flats is the way to go - but for the price, why don't you snag the anthro black and florals too? Now you can see why my closet is bursting!

Your reasoning makes so much sense, Shannon, both these pairs have the potential of becoming wardrobe workhorses. And hurrah for the discount code and a little more budget coming your way via consignment.

Love those animal print flats! Sorry I can't offer any advice about the other pairs. I always look forward to your shoe posts because you have such a great eye for interesting shoes and I DO NOT : )

Thanks for the chocolate Inge - how did you know I absolutely ADORE chocolate of any kind??? My favourite goody in the whole world is a cup of good, strong coffee and some dark chocolate....yummy...

My only slight reservation on the Skylars is a few reviews I have read said they run narrow, particular in the toe box. I have medium width feet but the start of a bunion on my left foot (stupid foot!) and am worried they could be too narrow.

Nicole - no can do on the black and floral oxfords from Anthro. Gotta stick to the budget. They are lovely and fun though!

But I do like the two you've chosen -- the animal print and the Skylar. I think they will be extremely versatile. Now let's hope the Skylars play well with your feet...

I really want the Skylars to work out for you. Does the site offer free returns in Canada? Then trying them on can't hurt, right?

Shannon, do they sell the skylars anywhere in Winnipeg? Or will you be going out of town at any point?

I am going to be in Toronto at the end of the month. I could do a hunt and see if I could find and measure the width for you in our size. I think there is a Cole Haan store on Bloor St.

Oh boy, all this oxford talk is making me dizzy. I had better go visit my closet and remind myself I don't need any more oxfords! I will say that perforated is really good in the hot summer and makes a big difference.

Great choices, Shannon! Have you tried on the animal print flats to be sure they're not too narrow?

I'm just drooling over those Anthro yellow/floral print oxfords. Wow.

And if I had a million dollars, I'd buy these. Who needs sandals? It'd be even better if they came in tan or cognac.
