Shacket + leather skirt: does it work?

Hi fabbers,
With all your fabulous advice, I decided to pair my thrifted Isabel Marant shacket with a leather maxi skirt (also thrifted.) It's a lot of shirt, and the bright pink is not normally a computer I wear, so I took a page from Angie's tip book and went with a column of black to balance out out for the first outing. Next time I might be more adventurous and pair of with olive cargos and combat boots.

What do you think? Does this work? It's a lot of shirt and I know the cropped shape cuts me horizontally - but honestly, some days I care not a jot about figure flattery and just want to have fun!

Also including some more paired down recent outfits - statement jacket and cardigan old retail, both pants thrifted.

I think it works beautifully! I would want to add just a touch of white/cream somewhere ( a scarf, a bag, bracelet), but that is just a personal color mixing choice. Would love to see the shacket with olive. If you want to be super adventurous, try it with reds and burgundies, too.

The recent outfits are lovely. Love the blush with sage, so pretty!

Oh, the shacket is amazing, LOVE the colour on you.
I like the combination with the leather skirt. The textures are wonderful together and the skirt is quite narrow and provides structure. And I always like a nice column of black - I have a sugar eye for that look under a colourful topper It would be my choice if I would own this great shacket.
Olive will be great with the shacket too.
The other outfits are great, too. I especially admire 8-9.

I think it works! The shacket plays down the dressiness of the leather skirt in the same way wearing sneakers with a suit tones that down & so to me it makes the leather skirt more modern & current. Looking forward to seeing it with olive.

I think it looks great. That colour really suits you. I think because you have it tucked in (or belted? hard to see) there is waist definition even with the long column. Other outfits look great. You have some beautiful colours there.

I think the shacket would also work with a column of grey (which I mention because it looks you already have grey pants).

I agree the shacket looks great. Good idea with the column of black,,or column of color will work well. Love outfit #8.

Jeez that jacket is amazing . I love it with the skirt - although I wonder if the skirt could be a touch shorter . Might be the camera angle tho .

Ok Roxanna, you are hitting out of the ballpark every time! Love that pink shacket and how you styled it. Who made that floral jacket - because I am dying about how the pattern meets across the front? Also like the pale pink and gentle palette mixed with the somewhat masculine cuts. Loving the signature oxfords with everything. And finally what are we doing with our hair ? Looks fabulous!

I love it — looks fantastic with the column of black. I could see it working well with a column of other neutrals as well — cream/white, grey, tan or cognac, etc.

Bubblegum pink is soooooo fab on you, Roxanna! Great with the column of black because of the black buttons on the jacket, and your hair. Skirt might need a little shortening. Not sure. Hard to judge with camera angles sometimes.

#8 and #10 are very pretty! Great fits and proportions. The pattern of the jacket is a wonderful match with your hair

Thank you so much all! I appreciate the kind words because I didn't think Pink was my colour at all, but thought I would try it anyway.

@Angie and @Lisa - thank you for the vote of confidence! The skirt is actually shorter than it looks in the picture - I wrote it with boots that are fitted at the ankle, to give the outfit a little more structure (a tip I learned from you, Angie - and it makes a big difference!) You just can't see it in the photo because of the angle.

@Jaime you made me laugh out loud - it was like we were meeting for brunch and squealing over each other's outfits statement jacket is from Anthropologie, believe it or not. I saw it a couple of years ago in the shop window and just had to have it. I rarely buy things from there but this was just so unique (and surprisingly well made.)

@Angie - your kind comments have nudged me to wear more black and white patterns to go with my hair, so I brought this jacket out again!

@Jaime as you know I had a too-short haircut a few weeks ago - now it had grown out enough to curl again (thank God it grows fast!) I think I will keep growing it out into a short bob...

'Some days I care not a jot about figure flattery and just want to have fun!' - I know the feeling! I often feel torn between trying to wear something flattering that I know looks and feels good on me and something that is out of my comfort zone but fun, particularly when it comes to pale colours.

I love the jacket with the green flowers on you, and the hot pink, they really suit you. Regarding the pale colour outfit, I feel it needs something at the neck line, perhaps a cute short scarf? It would help draw attention to your lovely smiley face and cool curly hair too!

Ooh I love the pink shacket! It would go with about any neutral - brown, cream, gray. Love that color on you.
