I'm up to 11 wardrobe purchases for 2020, after adding 3 more items to my closet this month--a silk cami, ballet flats, and a rust sleeveless mock neck.
Thoughts:
1. Literally nowhere to go. Last month, I mentioned that my county was in the most restrictive tier of California's reopening plan and now...that's still the case. I haven't spoken in person to anyone other than my immediate family, my next-door neighbors (thank goodness for balcony chats), and grocery store clerks in six months. I still get dressed every day, but there's been very little incentive to mix things up or try anything new.
2. No autumn. It was over 100° both yesterday and today, and we still have at least another week before it cools down...to the upper 70s. The sleeveless mock neck below was an impulse pick-me-up. It looks like fall, but is still wearable in summer temperatures (though maybe not ones as extreme as this week).
3. Being kind to my feet. My feet finally decided to protest being barefoot so often, so I bought a pair of AllBirds ballet flats to wear in the house. Maybe they'll go outside eventually, but for now they're indoor-only and they've made a big difference already. And kismet...they're a perfect color match with the mockneck.
4. Backordered impulse. The floral thermal tee below was another impulse purchase, after I had to return the floral blouse I ordered. (I’m using the term “impulse item” lightly here. My shopping plan leaves room for such purchases to add fun
and interest when I feel like that’s what I need.) It won't arrive until December, which is just about when the weather would allow me to wear it. This level of cozy and casual might turn out to be better for the current situation anyway.
5. Big picture? Meh. I have very few big picture thoughts this month, but I think I took a couple of WIWs. I'll be back to add.
