Hi folks, I’m behind in posting my outfits for my September no-repeats challenge so here is a big photo dump of weeks 3-3.5. I think I’ll then combine outfit pics from the last few days of the month with an overall recap, so that should be coming next week.
Mid-wash straight jeans, blush high-low Aran pullover. Simple outfit for another quiet day at home (hello again slipper socks).
-3: Navy/black plaid linen skirt, cropped Breton pullover, blue clogs. I love this skirt!! I find it really flattering (if I do say so myself), it’s comfortable, and it has the right length and level of swish for imaginary moor tromping. Although linen, the heavy weight and dark color palette make it feel appropriate for fall. Need to remember to wear it often this time of year!
mid-wash straight jeans, orchid ribbed v-neck sweater. Colder today so brought out the long-sleeve pullover for the first time.
olive chinos, teal 3/4 sleeve cable pullover, amber jewelry, tan clogs. My version of Lisa’s olive and teal with mustard accents, though I’m really stretching the definition of mustard. Note to self: get some mustard fair isle socks. Not sure how I feel about the clogs with this.
mid-wash straight jeans, blue ombre 3/4 sleeve pullover. Panic fallback outfit when what I’d planned to wear went VERY wrong. Like, “I’m an extra in Fiddler on the Roof” wrong. Let us not speak of it further. Closeup of the pullover in 7 as it’s very pretty and I wasn’t sure the ombre effect came through in the full-length photo.
black skirt leggings, Dutch floral short sleeve pullover, navy Aran cardi, black ballet flats
-10: mid-wash straight jeans, white embroidered cap sleeve top, rose cardi, pink canvas tennies. Very close to a previous outfit but I was kind of boxed in by the fact that I was going away overnight with my husband and trying to stick to a color scheme. Technically I am still within bounds of the no repeats challenge.
what I planned to wear: black skirt leggings, blush high-low Aran pullover, black ballet flats. 12: What I actually wore, because it was colder than I’d expected and our accommodations were also quite rustic: the above plus a sweatshirt and scarf over top!
olive fleece midaxi skirt, pink 3/4 sleeve pullover sweater. Continuing to explore the pink/olive combo! I need to figure out how to do a high bun/topknot more neatly, but I think the idea of a topknot with a little scarf tied around it has some potential, what do you all think?
mid-wash straight jeans, teal 3/4 sleeve cable pullover. FFBO for a high-stakes zoom call where I needed a reliably flattering neckline!
-17: navy/black plaid linen skirt, black long-sleeve tee, fair isle sweater vest. Much better than my first attempt with this vest, thank you all for your good suggestions last week!
cat interlude to reward you for scrolling through all these photos
-20: olive chinos, blush high-low Aran pullover, amber jewelry. I don’t think this olive/pink combo worked as well, the colors are too desaturated for my preference. Lesson learned!
-22: I have been pondering footwear which I think is one weakness of my current transitional capsule. I don’t want to wear boots yet, I’m sick of my canvas tennies (much as I love them), and those huarache mules no longer feel seasonally appropriate. Earlier in the month I had been pondering loafer mules, so I dug out this pair in that general genre (I’ve used these as house shoes in the past). What do we think? On the one hand my transitional capsule is pretty relentlessly casual, so I’m not sure how well the clothes will pair with dressier loafer mules. But this particular combo feels a bit Coastal Grandmother to me, which I can handle. Opinions and alternative suggestions welcome!
That’s it for now, thanks for looking and grateful for any feedback!
