efbgen - yes it surely would be most uncomfortable!

I with Ginger on the 3/4 sleeves - I love how they look, but find them unpractical for exactly the same reasons. I should make a rule to never buy them, but there are so many out there that I've bought 3 in the last year. And only this morning I put one on, realised it wasn't going to be warm enough, and had to change to a shorted sleeve top so I could wear another layer. I try to wear my 3 tops just by themselves lots in the transition seasons, but even then (e.g., yesterday) I had moments of feeling a bit cold.

On the shorts in church thing - 2 of my daughter wear shorts every week in summer. And at the informal student evening service we go to I counted 3/4 of the band members wearing shorts on Sunday night. It is appropriate for our setting.

My life has gotten very, very casual, so I suppose my one rule is to roll with that. I have three small boys, and I work on a farm, among other, equally rough and messy jobs. I’ve learned to make room for personal style in extremely unlikely circumstances — and to wear what’s comfortable and practical, and what plays to my own whims and tastes, no matter how untrendy.

Anne- with you in Ginger’s camp I guess I am flying solo on this whole 3/4 sleeve- lol.
When I would teach religious ed/ Sunday school I would get comments from some adults about some of the kids’ get-ups. while personally I was not a fan of the way some of them dressed in church my response to the adults was always- I think God is happy just having them visit His home in any attire except the one He gave them on the day they were born. That usually ends the conversation- lol
Welcome Rip- glad to have you on board- love your take on things- you sound grounded but with that touch of “sassy” independence. Love that!
“making room for personal style in extremely unlikely circumstances “- sounds intriguing and mysterious- can’t wait to see examples.
