Hi everyone

I just drew the names for the YLF 2010 Gift exchange! Everyone who signed up should check their email for the person that they drew.

I thought we could have a thread to help people get to know their Secret Santee.

I'll go:
* Favourite colours= green, pink
* Favourite colours to wear= blue, black, red- I'm a neutrals girl who is trying to branch out.
* Accessory preferences= I never wear earrings other than my little gold hoops but love necklaces (I wear one with every outfit). I don't usually wear bracelets but like them. I like scarves but don't have many
* I have super sensitive skin so don't use body washes/lotions etc.

Thank you so much (again) for organizing this Megan. What fun!

Favorite colors (in general and to wear): Any jewel tones - I especially love dark teals, rich peacock blues, and deep reds.

Accessory preferences: I love earrings but am trying to wear more necklaces lately. I am pretty big busted, and I like that necklaces can draw attention upward. I love scarves but have plenty. I like whimsical pieces quite a bit.

Like Megan, I have sensitive skin, so I avoid scented lotions.

Adding, per Maya's suggestion: Places I like to shop/browse: Anthropologie, Fossil, ATL (lately), etsy. Also, I didn't think about this before, but I adore hats too.

I can't wait to see what my giftee posts; I'm looking forward to shopping.

Yay! I just saw the name I drew. (-:

My favorite colors are pinks, purples and blues (I prefer muted colors or jewel tones, not bright colors). I don't wear jewelry except for brooches. I do loves scarves, though, and only have two. I like fashion forward things, or things that are very plain.

I'm really looking forward to shopping for my draw. Thanks again for organizing this!

2 - I got so excited when I saw my giftee that my girls stopped what they were doing and came running to see what was wrong LOL No idea what I am going to get her yet, but I'm excited to be buying for her.

3 - I haven't rechecked the other thread yet, but did we set a price limit? And did it include postage?

Ok, as for me:

Overall: I'm discovering that I'm a more modern classic/gamine style. I am very casual though.

Colours - Blue, Red, Black & White - anything nautically coloured is usually a winner.

Accessories - I do wear earrings, but I'm going through a very understated earrings stage - so generally just wear my little faux diamond studs. I prefer necklaces, and have heaps of bigger ones, so wouldn't mind smaller daintier ones. I also love scarves but don't have many. I also LOVE bags.

Count me in the sensitive skin group too - I have my approved products and never stray.

I'm very small in the upper body, so generally the smallest or second smallest sizes fit me in tops. Bottoms are far too hard to fit.

Other than that, I love pressies and surprises, so I can guarantee anything will be a big hit with me!!!

My favorite colors to wear are typical "autumn" colors. I wear a lot of greens and browns, and warm reds, mustard yellow, orange, and teal. I'm on team silver. I don't wear a lot of patterns.

In terms of accessories, earrings, necklaces, and scarves are all great! I have one bracelet I wear everyday while all of my others go untouched, and I've never been able to embrace hair accessories (headbands, clips, etc).

I also have sensitive skin, so body products aren't a good idea for me.

Places I like to shop: Loft, Gap, JCrew, BR, and lately the majority of my accessories are from etsy.

My favorite colors are turquoise (bluish, not greenish), fire engine/tomato red, rosey hot pinks in the magenta family, fuchsia, cobalt blue, citron, bright purple (think Angie's Ted Baker dress) and most anything else that is strong and bright. For metals, I am on team gold.

I think I'm set with necklaces and scarves, but I do love earrings and don't have a lot of those. Also can't get enough hosiery, although it shouldn't be too sheer. I also like fashion forward items like legwarmers and waistbags (just examples, no reflection on what I'm looking for). I also love love love hats!

Not too much into personal care things like lotions or soap.

Also adding a new category since I think it would be helpful. Places I typically shop or browse at: Urban Outfitters, ASOS, Topshop, Anthropologie, H&M, Zara and of course department stores like Nordies and Macys. My gift of course does not have to come from any of those stores, though, but it might paint a picture.

I am open to all kinds of accessories, particularly statement necklaces in mixed metals, chains and pearls. I have too many brooches so I have no need for those at the moment. I love belts in animal prints (zebra better than leopard) and cozy, big scarves.
My favorite colors are cool, bright colors and jewel tones: purple, hot pink, forest green and lime green, citron, cobalt and teal.
I am not a big fan of flower prints or paisley, I prefer abstract patterns. As far as figures in quirky jewelry go, I love cute, plump sparrows, hippos, and robots. I like peacock feathers.

Great idea Maya- I like shopping (online for the US people) at Loft, BR and Urban Outfitters- I love some of the H&M things that I see on people but have no access to it here.

I've posted a message on Elfster asking you all to add your addresses to your Elfster profile- only your Secret Santa will be able to see it.

The limit I mentioned earlier was US$25 which I think should include postage (at each person's discretion of course). Happy to take other people's lead on this though.

I also tried to restrict the draw for people who said that they'd prefer not to post internationally.

$US25 sounds fine to me (hehe especially as our $$ is so strong at the moment LOL).

As for stores I like, I'll get a list of US style stores for you all - will have to go looking as I usually stick to the Aussie stores...

I prefer neutrals and recently learned that tomato red, navy blue and chocolate brown look good on me.

Still learning what my style is, but the california casual and modern classic in the Lucky guide seemed to really suit me.

Right now I still have 10lbs. of baby weight to lose. I'm fitting into a size medium top at the moment. My favorite stores are currently gap and aldo. I don't own many scarves, but would like to start wearing them.

I really will be quite happy with anything! I love giving/ receiving gifts!

Favorite colors: Well, if you've seen my WIW posts, you know that I love color, period. I love rich, earthy greens and greenish-blue, burgundy, bright cherry red, and am currently kind of obsessed with muted orange "pumpkin", chestnut, and cognac.
The only colors that I don't really wear or look good in are pastels or what Angie terms "sour" colors (citron, lime green, etc.)

Accessory preferences: I'm open to accessories of all kinds! wear a lot of scarves and necklaces, but have a lot of both. I like brooches and don't have many.
Earrings probably would not be the best because my piercings are sensitive to certain kinds of metal.

* Favorite colors to wear: red, all shades of purple, green, teal, peacock. I really love color in general, so I'm happy with most colors (and I do wear black, brown and cream as well). I like bright, bold colors more than light or muted ones. I happily wear colors like orange and yellow.
* I am very much team gold, but do wear silver if I really like the piece.
* I'm probably not the best person to purchase jewelry for because I make a lot of my own jewelry.
* I love all sorts of hair accessories and notions. I recently bought myself a black and white feather fascinator (attached to a headband) that I absolutely love. I like hair accessories that are a little bit quirky.
* I do not purchase anything made of leather, suede, fur, or other animal skins.
* I wear a size 4 and am only 5'1, so that would translate into size small for things like tights.
* I tend to shop at Nordstrom, Bloomingdales, Saks, J. Crew. At the department stores, my favorite designer is Nanette Lepore, I think because she designs with classic styles and shapes but she makes very fun through bright colors and/or cute and quirky details. I love that combination of classic and fun, and think it defines my style pretty well.
* I am a *huge* animal-lover, and am not at all adverse to accessories with animals in them. Any animals will do (I really love them all), but I particularly like cats, turtles, ladybugs and pandas.

I have to admit I feel a little bad for whoever was assigned to me because I don't post photos and stuff on the site, and I'm sure that makes things more difficult. If my secret santa has more questions I'm happy to answer a PM through elfster.

Just so my secret santa knows (and she is hopefully reading this), I'm adding some of the silly things that catch my eye, but don't actually expect anyone to spend $65 on a cupcake scarf for me :p (to go with my cupcake hat, of course).

Yay it's getting close now!!!

Colors: I like coral/deep watermelon, bright deep greens, mustard yellow, magenta and also into black & white prints lately.

Accessories: I only wear silver. Always looking for new earrings in basic styles such as hoops (all sizes), studs including colored stones or faux pearls, or anything that is dangly but not shoulder grazing. On the hunt also for statement necklaces but only shorter length ones (say around 22 inch) with beads or stones in turquoise, red, yellow or any bright colors or just abstract designs. I'm particularly craving anything with birds/swallows on them.I have a few scarves but always looking for more in bright prints or black & white. I also love any chunky silver bangles or cuffs or bracelets made of any wooden materials or inlaid with turquoise colors.

Personal Care/Lotions: I'm happy with anything and everything including smelly candles or fragranced reed sticks etc. (dont know how well they'd travel though).

Fav Shops: Dont know much about the US stores but from what I've seen I like Boden and Modcloth stuff. Otherwise Aussie stores I like are Barkins, Cue, Witchery, Country Road, Diva and Sportsgirl.

Other stuff: I love sewing so anything sewing related will always go down well.

If my Santa is so inclined I am more than happy receiving any food related goodies - I do anything with sugar in it!

* Favourite colours= yellow (any shade, but especially citron!), turquoise, purples

* Favourite colours to wear= black, yellow, red, any bright color really except brown. Think Angie colors!

* Accessory preferences= I like really big and bold stuff... nothing small. I like statement pieces. I would love some fun scarves or big necklaces or chunky bracelets...

* I don't like boho stuff or stuff with nature/animals on it. I like modern/abstract stuff. Especially polka dots.

* I like anything and everything at Nordstrom.

* I also love sweets or gift cards!

For my Gifter:

Please don't be too overwhelmed by the "wishlist" that I created in Elfster! As always happens when I am at Etsy or ModCloth, there are loads of things I like, so I have added them to this wishlist for my own future reference!!! I guess at least you can get a pretty good idea what I like, but please don't think I'm some greedy little snot that wants everything!!!!

The list is actually a really handy tool for someone like me to keep track of all the things I am loving LOL

Autumn and winter are my favourite seasons I find it so much easier to warm up than cool down. I work with children so spend lots of time outdoors and have a growing collection of hats, scarves, gloves and coats.
I'm quite daring and like to try new trends often being impatient and ending up with not quite the right piece.
I don't like green and yellow sweets and for some reason I've sub consciously avoided these colours in my wardrobe and am slowly rectifying this. Love cadbury's chocolate and jelly sweets x

Oh, I just discovered this thread, how utterly exciting!

Secret Elfster, I promise that I shall try my very best to give you some appropriate guidance! Firstly, please do not stress about buying me a gift. I promise to even love it if you buy me one of those dolly toilet roll holders that you used to see in the 70's. (That was NOT a suggestion BTW!)

Now, hmmmmmm, what to say about myself.... It's actually harder than I thought it would be! OK, here goes:

*I am a girly girl who loves feminine pieces. I think it is a reaction to living in an all male household (even the cat is a boy!).

*When I was but a wee lass, I used to be very creative in how I dressed and expressed myself. Somehow in the past ten years I have morphed into conservative Katiepea, which I am now finding rather boring. So now, I am trying to add a bit of subtle fun or unexpected quirkiness to my wardrobe. Not that I have achieved this yet, mind.....

*I like to wear red, pink, blue, green, silver and purple. I like to think I look noice in these colours. I have started to avoid black up top, because I find it quite harsh against my fair colouring. I do wear gold sometimes, but prefer platinum dahling. (Why be silver, when you could be platinum, right?!)

*I actually love smelly stuff, with the exception of rose or lavender scent. Please don't do that to me - it would make me think of my grandmother, unless this comment is read by my grandmother, in which case of course I love it grandma, I made that first bit up!

*I love necklaces and bangles. I'd love some more summery scarves. (I don't have any. ahem. <If I could, I would have written that bit really small!>)

*It's REALLY hot where I live in comparison to most places and humid too. And it's heading into summer.

Megan, am I putting my address in the "settings" tab on Elfster?

For colors, I wear a lot of neutrals -- charcoal grey, dove grey, white, cream, black, deep chocolate brown -- not so much camel -- and my best colors are cooler tones of purples and greens. I don't prefer brights and don't wear pink. Red makes me nervous, but "my" red is a cooler, deeper shade rather than the tomato or orange-y reds.

I'm team necklace and team silver, but like accessories in general and prefer bold pieces to delicate ones. The exception to that is earrings, where I really just wear pearl studs or silver hoops. (I overdid the dramatic earrings in the 80s).

I have a strong attraction to organizing things and love useful doo-dads that genuinely help with the process of keeping a closet in order.

How great is this?So cool! I just heard from my 'secret santa' and wanted also to say dont fret about me! I love everything (as long as it is perfect for me) KIDDING! I too have sensitive skin and cant use bath oils, scented stuff....I love necklaces-especially 18-21 inch- length ...wear gold mostly...dont like small pieces of jewelry on me-they tend to disappear on my fat body! love chunky necklaces, but *not* mid-size to big plastic-looking beads...love florals and almost *every* kind of watercolor prints...love scarves..especially with fringe!have only 2. love aqua, green (except lime), browns, gold, crimson (but no other shade of red)soft colors like yellow and lavender -no purple. Love feminine, frilly things....dont wear earrings, rarely bracelets...Im really open to all kinds of things! Also *love* anything with a bird print!!! Goofy socks are great too! low to mid-calf length only, though...I cant wear anklets or knee-highs....

Colors? It already stumps me. Honestly I like all colors in the right mix and measure.
One thing I would really like is some trendy costume jewelry, especially a long, pendant necklace. But not an owl, I already have that. I also like books about fashion. (I already have both Lucky's and a couple Trinny and Susannah's.) But I am open, just trying to offer ideas. Might be best to let me know when you want to send something because I will be on the move this holiday season. Could be stateside, if that's where my SS is.

So in the end will we know who has who, or does it remain a secret?

Adding to my previous comments above:

* I am on team silver (and also "distressed" metals like pewter and bronze.) Pure gold isn't the best color for me.
* I love turquoise and carnelian or coral jewelry.
* I love abstract/geometric prints, and have a thing for paisley too.
* Due to my bust size, woven tops can be much more tricky to fit than knits, & V-neck or scoop necklines are best. (I do have a lot of tops already, though I'm always on the lookout for tops that are a good length & shape to wear with pencil skirts. Usually wear a size 10.)
* I love patterned tights (generally in the L/XL size range)
* I'm crazy about flavored (sweet) herbal or black tea, and always appreciate teacups, teapots, or tea strainers.
* I'm a lifelong bookworm.

In general, I'm thrilled just to get a package in the mail, so please do not fret or stress over me!
