Diana, LOL, now I have the image of waiters with dishcloths. The "scarf" I have was actually intended to be worn at the waist. It's a strip of fairly substantial woven cotton fabric about the weight of twill but with a design woven into it . There's not a lot of fabric to deal with. I may also still have some dressy ones around of heavy silk. I often just wraped them, tied it once, and tucked the ends under so that nothing hung down, cummerbund style.
AJ, thank you for the link. I found the scarf worn obi style with a belt over it especially interesting.
Di, that's a wise comment about having a defined waist for this to work. Mine's not very defined anymore.
Sveta, I loved how you styled the skirt. Thank you for correcting me about the belt color. I liked that it wasn't high contrast against the skirt with that outfit. I'm looking forward to your picture.
Janet, it is hard to always have the right belt, isn't it? this appealed to me as a way to add interest on a very hot day without wearing a scarf round my neck.
Thank you for your help, MaryK, Taylor, Kim and Freckles. I need a whole day (or two) to once-and-for-all figure out how to take a photo with my camera, upload it to the computer, and post it on YLF. I don't know how you do it so often, MaryK, but am so glad that you do.
