Sandal quandary

Hello Ladies,

So I've been searching for casual summer sandals for my fussy feet. I plan to wear these sandals with shorts and casual skirts and dresses. I found these two styles on Zappos and ordered them both.
They both arrived today and are both very comfy, one more so than the other. I was trying them on when my 11yo DD came into my bedroom and immediately vetoed the Joanne sandals labeling them as too orthopedic. So I am turning to my fellow YLFers for your collective wisdom and guidance. Should I keep one over the other or return them both?

Interesting - I prefer the Joanne. I think the simple straps are more current - although it is hard to argue with an 11 year old about that! They both look good so comfort is the most important.

Disclaimer: Problem feet here, not a shoe person, totally get it...but I admit I have a hard time with the Bass options. The Joanne looks a lot like the Saltwaters that hipsters love but are "toddler" shoes to me because that's what we wore in the summer!

I did a quick search on Zappos for comfort + leather + 1 inch or less and these were the ones that seemed most promising in terms of style. I'll edit with a few of my favorites, but see above...not sure my picks will meet with your daughter's approval, ha!

Oh...I love Vix's options!! I have to say I agree with your DD about the first pair, but one always MUST see a shoe on -- it is all in how it looks on the foot, really. Still, I prefer the ones Vix suggested at least in theory.

I tend to agree with DD on the Joannes - and the others just look. so. Bass. to me. I love the options that Vix has come up with and I'd try them! (I totally get the problem feet issue and needing comfortable shoes - I've got the same issue - and avoid Bass sandals!)

oh it's so nice to see the joannes labeled as hipster, because when i looked at the picture, i had a flash back. i wore these exact bass shoes in high school when preppy was the look and bass and sperry topsider were the only things you wore.

I'm with Marley -- I wore those Bass sandals in high school and can't get past that they look a bit gearish, almost like dressier Tevas. I love Vix's choices! Good luck! I'm on a sandal search too, but I don't have fussy feet. It must be so frustrating!

Not sure about either of these ones but you need to try them on and see how they look. I really like the Clarks that were posted above. Shannon posted about those ones yesterday and said they were very comfortable.

I kinnda like the Bass ones, but I like the ones that VIx listed even more. How do the shoes look on you?

Not a lover of Bass only because it was what I wore in Junior High. I always say go with what is most comfortable. That said, I know Ecco boots are amazing so I think those shoes would be dreamy that Vix linked to.

I like your second pick, and Vix found some great options. The Joannes are a strange mix of matronly and toddler, IMO.

I prefer the Clementines for your style, Hedgie. Also love the styles Vix posted. I have many happy clients in the Clarks and Eccos.

Thanks everyone, for chiming in. Special thanks to Vix for posting such fashionable alternatives. Stacey, you hit the nail on the head....I wanted to like the Joanne style but they are definitely geriatric toddler sandals! Lol
I will check out the suggestions Vix posted and see how I look in the clementines.

Glad I could help with a few ideas! As so many said above, it's all about how a sandal looks and feels on *your* foot. I picked some for you that would look horrid on me in case I could live vicariously.

I wear/have worn Clarks, Rockport (the ones with Adidas technology), Nike Air, Softspots, Sofft, Earthies, Kenneth Cole Reaction, and I'm sure a few comfort brands I'm leaving out. Many scored at Marshalls/TJ Maxx/DSW etc.

You should check out Lands End while you're looking, too -- I noticed last year they had some "updated classic" styles and colors and I know they are a function-first company.

I have a pair of Eccos that are similar to what Vix found that are quite comfortable.

Fellow fussy foot person here. My issue is needing a squishy soft bottom. I just bought these Clark's:

I bought them in red....the picture does not do them justice! I think they run a bit big. I usually wear a size 7 in sandals, but ended up with a 6 1/2. They are adjustable in the front and back. If you have really wide feet, I don't know if these would work as my feet are narrow.

The Borns that Vix posted are divine. I am not terribly fond of either of the original choices; I think you can do better.

I don't mind the Clementines and if they are truly comfortable and 11 year old approved that counts for a lot. Sometimes a summer sandal is just a summer sandal?
