Thanks for posting this inquiry, St4rrgrrl, because I sometimes feel almost a little rude about not posting photos of my face here. Most of the women on this Forum seem so wonderful, gracious, positive and supportive, so it's not really an issue with that. It's the other millions of creeps on the internet that I worry about. Despite the frequency of my presence here (a guilty pleasure), I do have a somewhat demanding work/life schedule and don't have time to keep up on all the different security measures I should be taking to keep devious people from hacking into my computer, accounts, photos, etc., so I just play it safe by not posting photos of the face. Also, I had a couple of creepy internet quasi-stalking experiences years ago that have made me cautious. And last of all, as others have mentioned, in my particular workplace, an interest in style and fashion is kind of treated as frivolous. Of course, we all know this isn't true, there is plenty of academic research supporting the importance of one's personal style, but out there in the workplace, I find I still get treated as some kind of vain bubblehead when I wear something obviously new or intriguing. Once when I wore a pair of t-strap heels (with trousers) to the office, my boss commented that they were "very Sex and the City," which I found insulting. It was not meant to be a compliment. And I work in a field with a lot of "brilliant" folks with inflated egos about the height of their intellectual superiority (as I'm sure most people do), so long story short, I try to keep my interest in style kind of low-key and private now so I can highlight and emphasize my hard work and work-related accomplishments instead.
