Yesterday I bought these AllSaints Raffi skirted leggings (and if you saw my other thread, you know what else I came home with. . .). Jackiec asked to see the leggings, and so when I tried them on at home today, I took a couple of photos to share. My intent is to wear them with long sweaters that aren't really long enough to wear alone with leggings (like the Free People shown below), or with my knee-length cardigan (also below in Finds) and a top, so I have front coverage, that kind of thing. When I put them on at home today I realize they are not going to work the way I want them to. The skirt is shorter than I thought it was when I tried on the leggings in the store. What I love about them, though: the fabric is super, super soft, a little thick and cozy feeling, and doesn't feel constricting. The black looks pre-washed and a little faded, so it's almost an off-black, which I liked. I sized up one from the usual US size I wear in, say, Kut from the Kloth or Halogen pants.
So they will go back. I'll probably re-buy the Eileen Fisher ones, because the skirt was a nice length on that one, just a few inches above my knee. The AllSaints Raffi skirt falls about three inches above that.
For comparison, the Eileen Fisher ones are a thinner, dressier looking, dark black fabric. They are rayon and lycra knit, and the skirt is very drapey. It seems like the same fabric as my EF knit harem pants. I also sized up in the EF ones, this time taking the same size I usually wear in Kut from the Kloth or Halogen pants (but I'm saying sized up, because usually in EF I take a size down). Sorry, no photos of the EF ones.
