Reporting on the BR washable Merino ribbed sweater for a large bust

I asked a while back about this sweater for large busts:

I wear a F (UK) / DDD (US) cup, but I am nursing a little one so my bust size changes a lot throughout the day. The sweater felt comfortable, flattering, and didn't stretch with moving it aside for nursing or using a breast pump.

I'm happy to report it does not cling, and though it is thin (think tee-shirt thin) and ever so slightly sheer (I had to cut off the bright white inner side seam garnet care tag, but a nude to me bra didn't show through), it is very flattering. Seems great for layering and not itchy. The arm holes are not tight or restricting. It doesn't bag out, either. It's not a true red but a bright orangey red, but it suits me and is close enough to the university's red that I kept it.

I ordered based on the size chart and it is true to size. It arrived the day before an admissions event so I could wear school colors! The venue's restroom mirror was way better than mine and I was the only one in there, hence the sass in my pose. B-)

If you've been considering this sweater, I'll add to the consensus that it's a good find !

The sweater looks great on you! I have one that is at least 2 years old and is holding up well. Little pilling. This year I bought 2 more in different colors. I found with the older one that once it had been washed a few times it didn't itch at all and was still soft and nice looking.

I do not think this is the sweater that pilled for LisaP.

This is a great looking sweater. I would be buying multiples if I thought I could wear merino wool. I am just too sensitive for me to take a change. You look fabulous. Thanks for the great review.

Beautiful colour - kind of wish I had that one too. I am wearing my black one right now, in fact, and also own it in brown and grey (neither of which I've worn yet) . It's quite conservative for my style, but it does perform a function in my wardrobe that was previously unaddressed. I had trouble getting the fit right on this one - I have a large bust too and because I'm anti-body-con anything, I sized up to avoid a vavoom look, which I shouldn't have done . It's now quite loose. I also should have considered a petite to get a shorter body length. Not sure why I thought it necessary to buy 3 of them - I get overly enthusiastic about things only to come back to earth all too soon. Maybe washing it will shrink it a bit?

And no, this is not the sweater I posted about earlier this week.

How fun that it is in a school color. We have a long cold spring (don’t plant outside until after Memorial Day due to frequent frost and even snow. Last year we had snow accumulation after Mother’s’ Day in mid May). I am thinking of the navy but it looks like a brighter, lighter blue than navy.

It looks terrific on you. Joy, I have the blue and grey and they do not pill at all. I did size up from my usual BR size because the shoulders were too narrow for me on my regular size. Now the body is a little looser on me than ideal but I still like the sweater.

Great sweater, I’m glad it works for you. It seems I’m the only one who couldn’t make it work. I ordered it in my regular size and it was a bit too fitted for my taste. Sizing up didn’t help, it added the length and proportions were off. Too bad, it is a lovely sweater indeed.

Irina - same thing happened to me . I settle too easily for poor fit because I’ve come to expect it . I wear this sweater because it’s soft and comfortable without being heavy , and it works under a coat. I had to turn under the bottom welt to shorten it enough to look right .

I have 5 of these, and I LOVE them. I wear them layered and un-layered. Tucked and un-tucked. They work with most of my bottoms. They wash and wear beautifully, and the colours were so spot on for my style. I got really lucky:

If I could tolerate merino wool, I would own all the colors Angie posted except the yellow. She is right. It is a great sweater. I was sad I could not make it work and I did try.

I was also wondering about the ribbing on my large bust. Also about how thick they were so thanks for that. I have a hard time with wool though so really hesitate.

I'm wearing my grey one today, and am totally aware that it isn't exactly flattering . I've mitigated that with a vest, hopefully. Robin - it's not really ribbed, per se, more just a flat wide rib effect . The issue on bigger busts (in my opinion anyways) is that the sweater is lightweight and slim fitting - so nowhere to hide

I’ve been following the rave reviews, ‘cause I do love a sweater. However, I have a note on my shopping/no buy list that says ‘no crew necks’. I don’t have a large bust, but I have broad shoulders. V-Necks and bateau necklines are more flattering IMO. Gotta say - I love the range of colours for this one!

I bought and considered keeping, found it really flattering on busty me, but ultimately had to return because I can’t tolerate merino on or near my neck. Way too itchy. Would love to see this is in a v neck version.

Runcarla, I usually avoid crew necks too, but it's low enough I actually liked it.

KMM, hear, hear! A v-neck would be amazing. Sorry it was too itchy for you! This was a rare bird for me where I forget it's merino and keep thinking it's cotton... until I start walking too fast and heat up!
