Got a couple more packages today - Report booties and the colorblock sheath dress that Laura wore so well. Any thoughts are welcome - I am completely open to returning all of these, if they are not perfect.

As Suz has said, the booties are amazingly comfortable considering the 3 inch heel, and the price was great (about $55). However, they did not have all colors and sizes so I have "sand" booties that are half a size too big and "cognac" booties that fit perfectly. I think if want to wear these sans hose, I need to find "sand" (lighter color) in a smaller size. On the other hand, the lighter pair has strange discoloration/darkening on the tip of each shoe. Any issues with the "ankle gap"?

The dress is very nice but perhaps a tad short for work. Also, as an apple, I always wonder whether sheath dresses are a good idea. On the other hand, the colorblocking is great, and I love orange.

Love the booties and am quite partial to the sand.

The dress has to be a keeper. It looks lovely on you. Great fit and very flattering.

I don't know but the cognac look very nice! Maybe not with that outfit, but very nice! I like sand, but those toes look dark and that might just be the pic.

I love you in that VC dress I tried it and it did NOT look at all nice on my pearish hips So, it definitely looks fab on you! Keep!

I much prefer the cognac against your legs. They seem like a great neutral to wear with denim, black, red, etc. I may or may not own a pair myself ; ) Are the toes of the sand as dark as they appear in the photos? It looks kind of weird.

The colorblock dress looks SO smart! Its fab with and without the blazer. I vote keep. It's gorgeous on you.

I vote keep on the dress as it looks great. I'd have never guessed you for an apple in that dress. Or the other outfit as a matter of fact. Both are very flattering.

I think that either color would work for you for the booties - since you're not trying to bookend your hair the way Suz does with hers, you could probably go either way. I do like the sand, but I agree that the toes look odd. I love the dress! I actually don't think it looks that short for work, but of course you need to feel comfortable.

At first I was drawn to the sand booties because that is exactly what I would wear, but I think Kelly is right that the cognac suits your skintone better. I think the toe darkening is just a question of your personal taste. I like things distressed, but if you like things more polished, then maybe it's not the right style for you. From these outfits it does seem like your style is polished. Check Aldo--I think they might be selling a similar style. I think the ankle gap is fine. It's supposed to be like that. The dress is a 9 in my eyes. I think the white stripe at the waist is problematic, but take that with a grain of salt because it seems I am in the minority.

Good points re: skin color/boot color. I am not sure that the toes of sand booties are that dark in real life but they are visibly darker.

I agree, Scarlet, the white stripe may be problematic, or at least I am not sure if it is flattering.

The darker toes on the booties bother me. Maybe check out Aldo as Scarlet recommended?

I really want to like this dress on you, but that white waist stripe is a deal breaker for me. I have apple tendencies and I find that if I keep my belts darker or tonal to the top, then what little waist I have is somewhat defined. Anything lighter than my top just makes my waist disappear.

AJ, thanks for the honest comments! I think this dress is very pretty, and the colors are refreshing, so it is hard to judge objectively whether it is flattering. I only picked up on the fact that the white stripe looked odd when I tried layering a white shirt under, so I am glad that both you and Scarlet pointed out that it may generally be problematic. It's always good to have the sharp-eyed YLFabers examining the photos.

I noticed with another pair of suede booties (not these) that the tips were also darker, and that differences was often greatly exaggerated in the photos. IRL they look less uneven but still, it seems that at least the sand-colored booties need to be returned.

I love the dress on you! Yes, it has a horizontal white stripe --- but it's a great, easy fit in the torso and the eye knows it's fabric, not "you," if you understand what I mean. Also, the camera is really magnifying this effect (which is why people rarely wear white on TV). I think the skimming effect minimizing your "apple."

As for the booties -- I think the gap is part of their charm. I prefer the sand for skirts without tights, but the cognac would do well in fall/winter. Both are very fun, practical additions.

I love the dress! Don't find the white stripe problematic; I think the dress looks great on you!

I don't like the dark toe on the sand booties, but it is a style preference. I like the cognac with tights or with jeans.....(but that may be a style preference too; I tend not to like dark booties against lighter skin).

I LOVE the dress! You look superb, and I personally find the length work-appropriate.

I vote the lighter pair of booties, too.

I think this dress totally works on you Makrame. I don't find the white stripe unflattering at all - and I'm an apple! I don't think it's too short either. I would wear it to work and think it's appropriate.

I like the dress a lot! It looks wonderful. I can see how if you are an apple (hard to believe) the white stripe might make you feel self-conscious, but from what I see, the whole effect is very flattering and easy.

The booties: I don't know what to suggest. Mine also have a slight darkening at the toes but it does not look that extreme. But suede does tend to photograph in odd ways; in these pics, it looks as if mine have a blotch part way up, and they really don't.

Hi Suz, I was hoping that you would chime in with your experience. Actually, the darkening is not as bad as it looks. But I also need to exchange the lighter booties for a smaller size so I will probably have to return both and then try another pair, which may have more uniform color. I tried the DV booties last week and they were fairly uncomfortable whereas these Report boots seem to be a perfect fit for me.

So did I, Jayne (liked it with the sandals, I mean). I was just to lazy to photograph the booties and the dress separately at first but then I figured that the booties were not really doing the dress any favors.

I love the dress on you, and both boot colors look good but I really like the sand pair. However, are they really gapey from the side? In the second photo there's an almost-side view and it looks like a substantial gap (which could be OK, I just can't tell well enough).
