When I get to wanting to jump on my fall list in July that this is the start of what's to come. Not even the heat of the day yet. Oh, and Sunday is 96. Flannel? Anoraks? NO NO NO. NO BUY JULY. Repeat as needed.

Anna, it is as bad as you imagine. My running clothes weigh a pound and a half when I come in from all the sweat they're holding. And that's wicking fabrics! Ugh. Thank god for A/C in the house.

I sympathize with you about the humidity--ugh! But I have to say I'll take the hottest, most humid day over a freezing cold one. I can come home, jump in the shower and feel totally refreshed. On the other hand, once I get cold, really cold I am done--can't get warm.

Oh, that's gross. Your real feel is hotter than mine. And the humidity must be suffocating. Kudos to you for running in that! Any walking or biking that I do is done at sunrise or sunset these days.

Oh c'mon, don't be silly - this is one of the cooler summers we've had in quite some time. It's only like 86 right now and 80% humidity. We're still wearing jeans.

Seriously, it is actually a much cooler start to summer for us. Typically by this time we've seen several 100+ degree days and we haven't seen one. We are dealing with more humidity than I'm used to.

I'm pretty accustomed to the heat by now. Really cold winters are hard for me. But if it weren't for AC, I'd move.

I know FL's hot. I know most of you know FL is hot. But when the shopping bug bites we tend to forget the most elemental of things right in front of our faces. I sit in my own puddle of sweat the entire haircut yesterday (even in the A/C) because the pleather chair and the apron are suffocating me after my bike ride over in 90+, yet a flannel shirt goes on sale that night and I still contemplate buying it.

Gigi, I'm scared!!
Denise, BF still has the camera in the car - but it's just a slightly shorter version of my beachy waves. I want to get my layers brought up more but I guess I don't know how to ask in stylist speak because no one seems to 'get it'. I had this inspiration pic.

EDIT: BF did leave the camera behind for me! (pic 2-3) Here is air dry with some light curl product. Same ol' same ol' really lol.

And I don't need anymore summer clothes because we only get two (three if we're lucky) warm/hot months and then I'm wearing tights, booties and heavy coats to stay warm. I'm already buying some fall items to start stocking up 'cause I know that -40 Celcius will come before I know it.

Can I come over and hang in the heat with you???

I would certainly consider a No Buy July. I think July would be quite the challenge for me because what helped me not buy anything during the month of June was the thought that I was actually saving myself for Nordstorm's NAS. I won't have that same goal in July. That would certainly make it a lot harder for me. Still, it is the end of June and I am flush with cash (as opposed to counting the days until pay day) so that has been positively reinforcing all by itself. And I gotta say the positive comments from other YLFers felt really good. So I would certainly consider it.

Mo, I am serious about a challenge! Maybe I should start a thread where we come up with "punishments" for failing No Buy July. It wouldn't be just you but everyone who participates. But I don't have a creative bone in my body to think of a suitable challenge/punishment myself.

well the first thing that came to my mind was that I could do 2 triathlons instead of one on the day I'm going mine, but I can't drive to the first one even if I wanted to - which I DON'T. ha.
For all of us, it would make sense to tack on a week for each infraction, but then that could lead to a repeat offense situation . . . or we could take another tack and do something good for ourselves that we don't want to. Be it an hour in the gym, or go without a treat (wine, sugar, fast food?) for a week, etc.

Oh, you are being much more punitive than I was imagining. I was thinking of something like you have to create a garish outfit and take a pic, or you have to style something in a very age-inappropriate way (either much older or much younger than you are) and take a pic. Kind of like a fashion dunce cap, ha ha. Something simple but fun.

Sterling, Lyn's suggestion would also allow more people to participate, since not everyone posts pics. And it's less of a time sucker than creating an outfit that you won't wear out of the house anyway, ha. Plus, it is a proper punishment. The doc knows best!
