Relating to today's blog post - what is your sequin alternative?

I noticed on today's blog post the number of responders who do not wear sequins

If you do not wear sequins what is your party fabric of choice? Or alternatively how to do you add the festive 'sparkle' to your outfit?

I really love velvet jackets - I know they don't add sparkle, but I think that they do add that special luxurious feel to an evening outfit. I have always wanted a velvet jacket, but have never found the perfect one.

I just bought a sequin scarf that I'm hoping will add a touch of razzle dazzle to my new tuxedo jacket:

I prefer to add sparkles with the accessories instead of a big piece of fabric. Although I did wear this last year to a party to utilize an old sequin skirt that came with a matching vest which stayed at home. : ) Was it too much?

I like velvet and satin for festive fabrics. And shiny shoes or bags for sparkle, as well. I did just get a silver toned scarf with some glitter to it, so I may try and work that into a party look this holiday season.

There's something about satin that makes me happy.
That said, I'm one who would consider the right sequined piece if it wasn't too over-the-top.

I'm trying to imagine myself living the lifestyle necessary to warrant such things, and for some reason, it makes me laugh! It just seems like the opposite of everything in my world right now...

It's just as well. I'm not a very festive dresser anyway. Glitz and glam does not appeal to me at all.

I don't really know how I could add s festive touch and still maintain my style, since my style is so inherently un-festive. I think I'd have to be forced into it to find out. I know it wouldn't be sequins, though. I'm too shy to serve as a human disco ball

I have never worn sequins nor do I have a 'sequin alternative'; my lifestyle doesn't warrant it. Not that I wouldn't adore to have -some- reason to get glitzed up, but 40 years in I've not had a reason yet. I can hope!
